It is hard to believe that we are closing in on our final 9 days of school. From this point forward the days will begin to move by very rapidly. As we prepare to enjoy all of our end-of-the-year activities (8th Grade Dance, 6th/7th Science Day Camps, 6th-8th grade Orchestra and Choral Concerts, and our 6th-8th grade Field Days and Transition Ceremonies, to name a few), please never hesitate to contact our main office (214-3240) if you have any questions regarding the details of any of these events. Lace your shoes up tight! We're almost there!

Notes From the Nurse
Final PTSA Meeting
Track Uniform Turn-In
If your student participated on the GMS Track and Field team and they are NOT able to attend the final end-of-season track get together and uniform turn in on Monday, May 16, we would like to encourage them to turn their track uniform into the main office. Please have them place their clean uniform (shorts and jersey top) in a plastic bag with their name clearly marked on the outside of the bag. Thanks for your help with this!
First Lego League Showcase
The FIRST Lego League (FLL) Showcase was a huge success! Students from across the district: Gentry, Jeff, Alpha Hart, and Shepard had an excellent opportunity to show their coding and robotics building skills to friends, family, and the community. Additionally, they got a chance to learn, share, and communicate their experiences with peers. Moreover, students had a blast interacting with the Army Ants High School team, who had just won 6 matches in the world championship, in the showcase.
We will continue to host FLL at Gentry next year. Current 6th or 7th graders, if you are interested in learning about robotics and engineering innovation, while engaging in problem-solving, teamwork, and technical skills, please consider joining us. Fill out this interest form, and Mrs. Qian will contact you at the beginning of the next school year about this amazing opportunity!
After School Activity Bus
The last day to ride the After School Activity Bus (utilized by those students who stay after school for various clubs and activities) will be on Tuesday, May 17th.
Lost and Found Items
All items that are left in the lost and found at the end of the school year will be donated to a charity of our choice. Please don't delay in having your student stop by our lost and found located in our cafeteria to check for lost items. Items that are smaller and of more value are locked and stored in the office. ALL unclaimed items will be removed from the school and donated to a local charity by the end of the day on Thursday, May 26.
Attention 7th Grade Families
The end of the school year is quickly approaching! On May 25, we will be having a field day for our 7th grade students. There will be trivia, games and outside fun! Our PTSA is donating lunch, but we are in need of a few other items. If you are willing to donate plates and/or napkins, please use this Sign Up Genius link to donate. Donated items can be dropped off at our main office no later than Monday, May 23rd.
We are also looking for parent volunteers! From 12–2:30pm we will be taking the students outside and having them rotate between various stations. We are looking for parent volunteers who would be willing to help at these stations. If you are willing and available, please use this Google form link to sign up. If you would like to be in your child’s group, please also include their name and we will try to accommodate this!
Thank you for all your help and support as we finish out the school year! ~ Your 7th Grade Teachers
Yearbooks
Yearbooks will be distributed to students on May 26th, the final day of school. If your student will be absent the last day of school and they placed an order for a yearbook, then you will need to contact the office. We will keep track of all those students who will not be here on the last day so that we can get their yearbooks to them on their final day of school for this year.

Incoming 8th Grade Students Proof of Immunizations- Don't Delay!
The primary dose of the Tdap and Meningitis vaccines are generally administered to adolescents in the 6th grade (or between the ages of 11-12). It is a state REQUIREMENT that we obtain proof that your student has received the primary dose of both of these vaccinations PRIOR to their first day of 8th grade.
If your student will be attending summer school as an incoming 8th grade student they will need to provide this proof PRIOR to starting summer school. Eighth grade students who have NOT provided us with this documentation will not be permitted to attend classes until this documentation is provided.
There is no need to wait! This documentation can be submitted to our nurse any time after your student receives these two vaccines. Providing this proof promptly will ensure that your student will be ready to start the 8th grade without delay.
Athletic MSHSAA Physicals- Attention Outgoing 8th Grade Students!
