Quist Weekly News
December 10, 2021
Dear ROYALS Families,
It was a busy week at Quist. Congratulations are in order for our Boy’s Basketball teams on their victories at the district championship game hosted at Quist, and to our Band and Choir students on their winter performances. We are thankful to our coaches, Mrs. Chavez, Mrs. Kockler, support staff members, and volunteers for all their efforts in making these events possible.
This week we also had the pleasure of visiting our 8th grade Science Museum and explore learning health presentations. Our ROYALS did a wonderful job on their final quarter projects. Below are a few pictures from the Science Museum.
Next week, we are celebrating the last week of the quarter and semester with Spirit Week.
Tuesday - White Out Day
Wednesday - Fuzzy/Sock Day
Thursday - Holiday Sweater Day
Friday - Cozy/Flannel Day
We have started to again see a trend of unsafe occurrences during drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Most concerning, drivers encouraging students to run between cars and across traffic. Please make sure to drop off / pick up student(s) in the designated areas so that they can cross safely. Taking the extra 1 or 2 minutes ensures the safety of all students. We can all agree that 1 or 2 minutes saved, isn’t worth the cost of anyone’s safety.
In closing, I wanted to share with you information about the “I Matter” program. A resource that is available for support with mental health.
I Matter
The State of Colorado recently launched I Matter, a program that provides up to three free counseling sessions for any Colorado youth age 18 or younger — or 21 and younger if receiving special education services.
Youth and their parents can visit the I Matter platform to take a confidential online survey about their mental health and schedule sessions with a licensed behavioral health clinician, primarily via telehealth. Youth 12 and older can sign up for counseling sessions without a parent or guardian's consent.
