CENTERVILLE PD SEARCHING FOR ADDITIONAL CROSSING GUARDS TO KEEP OUR WRANGLERS SAFE!
Thanks to the efforts and advocacy of our School Community Council, Centerville Police Department has recently informed us they are funding two additional crossing guards. As soon as these crossing guards can be hired and receive training, Miss Laura (currently the crossing guard at 2025 N and Main St.) will move west to 2025 N and 400 W. The two newly hired crossing guards will be placed as follows:
- One to accompany Laura at 2025 N 400 W - two crossing guards are needed to assist students at this intersection.
- The second new crossing guard will be placed at 2025 N Main Street to backfill Laura.
The city is immediately looking to now hire the two new guards. If you or someone you know may be able to help, here is some basic information based only on what we've been told. Since we cannot guarantee the hours and pay rate are accurate, please contact Centerville PD if you have questions.
- Sargent Dingman of the Centerville City PD is in charge of the hiring process and training.
- Crossing guards make $9.50/hour, are paid for 3 hours per day, and work 4 days per week (based on the current school week for Reading - subject to change of course)
- Background checks are required
- Applicants can apply on the Centerville City website
Our school community wants to recognize and thank Cole Smith (SCC Chairman for 2019-20) and Centerville Police Chief Paul Child who have led the way to make this happen for our students.

UPDATED Box Tops for Education Program
Traditional Box Tops clips are being phased out of production, but may continue to be found on many products throughout the store. You can still clip and send them to school. Every valid Box Tops clip is worth 10¢ for your school. Make sure each one has a clearly visible product acronym and expiration date. Physical Box Tops Fall deadline is Thursday, October 29 ! Please return them to school in a ziploc or taped to a paper by this date!
Eventually the Box Tops program will become digital-only. Participating brands are starting
to change their packaging from a traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Top label.
If you see this label, use the new Box Tops app to scan your receipt. Box Tops are still
worth 10¢ each for your school. The app will find participating products purchased at any
store and instantly add cash to your school's earnings online.
