PRINCIPAL AND VICE PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Bonny Slope Families,
What a two weeks we’ve had! The onset of the omicron variant has certainly kept us on our toes. Certainly, you’ve noticed the increase in daily emails again letting you know about students testing positive in our community. There hasn’t been a grade level in our school not impacted in the past two weeks.
Due to the diligence of our families, by participating in the weekly OSHU Covid-Testing, and completing at-home testing, we have been able to minimize the impact of this strain. This can only happen with school and home pairing together to identify students who are ill, and the communication between everyone that allows us to act very quickly. We are so appreciative of the families that let us know immediately when they receive that information.
We continue to ask that you all remain diligent when your students are at home. By continuing to practice social distancing and masking, you help us out by reducing the chances of transmission outside of the school day. Additionally, as a reminder, if you are on campus picking up your student or dropping off something, we ask that you remain masked, even for your short visit.
Working together we will get through this time. In fact, it is the only way we’ve gotten through it so far.
Janet Maza and Jim Hiller

Appreciation Campaign for our Subtitues at BSE
You might have heard in the media that schools are finding themselves in need of more substitute teachers/staff than available. At Bonny Slope, we have been fortunate to have most of our staff absences filled with substitutes. This is one metric that helps keep our schools open.
We know that when a substitute feels appreciated, the substitute is more likely to return to the school. I am asking our community to show their appreciation by writing thank you notes to our substitutes thanking them for their efforts. The notes do not have to be long and can be signed “The Bonny Slope Community” or, if a student is writing the note, the note could be signed “A Student at Bonny Slope”.
We will have a box in the vestibule for parents to drop off the thank you notes, or the students may drop them off in the office.
