Cory made the BPS news!
Hillcrest Community School third grade teacher Cory Wade and a class of his students from his time teaching at Westwood are featured in two Responsive Classroom books:The First Six Weeks of School and The Joyful Classroom: Practical Ways to Engage and Challenge Students.
Wade underwent several years of coaching and training with The Center for Responsive Schools to become a Responsive Classroom consulting teacher and certified trainer. The Responsive Classroom approach emphasizes academic, social and emotional growth in a strong school community.
Also, rumor has it that the rocking hair style in the photo is coming back next year :)

SPECIAL THIS MONTH
High Blood Pressure Education Month
National High Blood Pressure Education Month marks the “kickoff” of high blood pressure prevention and control activities for the year. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) launched the first “Month” campaign in May 1974. About 100 national organizations cooperated in the campaign and over 200 organizations coordinated activities in their communities during the month.
NHLBI invites community groups, civic and faith-based organizations, hospital outreach programs, public health departments, and workplaces to renew activities to prevent and control high blood pressure. Below is a list of NHLBI resources that program planners may use in their activities for National High Blood Pressure Education Month:

Keyboarding Skills
As we plan to move to 1:1 devices next fall in grades 3-5, teachers, principals and parents have expressed a desire for students to develop proficiency in using keyboarding skills. In response to that feedback, please see the attached presentation for a recommendation from Learning and Teaching and Technology about teaching keyboarding skills in grades 3-5.
