Congrats to Mrs. O’Hare on being named the Archdiocese of Washington “Teacher of the Week!” This is Mrs. O’Hare’s 21st year at Saint Matthias and we are so thankful for her unwavering support of Saint Matthias!

Delayed Start Time

Beginning September 16 and once a month throughout the school year, there is a 1-hour delayed opening for teacher meetings. This is designed to limit the amount of time parents have to take off work (half days involve almost a full day off of work!). If your child is registered for before care, before care will start at its usual time. If your child is registered for aftercare only and you are in need of morning care, please contact Mrs. Reedy. If you are not a part of our before/after care program, you will need to register for the program to have before or after care. Please contact Mrs. Reedy in advance if you have any questions or needs

Walk with Francis

On Monday, September 14th a crew from the CBS Evening News will be coming to interview us about the preparations we are doing as a school for the Papal visit. The highlight of this will be our "Stock the Food Pantry" food drive will be going on September 14-18th! Please bring in any non-perishable items starting as early as Friday.

We are accepting donations for our food pantry as a part of the Walk with Francis. Please consider how you, as a family, can pray, serve and act to prepare for the Pope's visit. Make your pledge online at

Heroes Mass on Friday at 11:00 am

The student's, faculty and staff of Saint Matthias invite you to our First Annual Community Heroes Mass on 9/11 at 11:00 am. We invite all to come and celebrate those that keep us safe, including our police, fire fighters, EMTs, and members of our Military. Those with uniforms are invited to attend Mass in uniform.

Virtus Reminder

All volunteers who have contact with children and/or volunteer during school hours (8:00 am-3:00 pm) must complete a one-time Child Protection class and have an
E-Background check performed in accordance with Archdiocesan policy. Stop by the office to pick up the necessary forms and go online to to register for an upcoming class.

Faith Day in the Park

The Nationals invite you to their 4th Annual Faith Day celebration! Come for a day of fellowship at Nationals Park on Saturday, Sept. 19. The day will include postgame performances from area church choirs and player testimonials. Discounted ticket packages available. See the Nationals take on the Miami Marlins at 4:05 pm.
