Most crashes occur around 5 pm to 6 pm, where adults mainly get off of work. There have been 741 fatalities over the past year, and over 65,000 have been injured. Most of the people that died were the drivers. Henrico County has the most fatalities alcohol related.
Speed of Crashes
Most crashes on the highway were cause of the speed limit being exceeded. A quarter of the crashes involving speed limits being exceeded had an alcoholic driver. This is known as drunk driving
In 2013 there was a total of over 199,000 crashes involved where the driver was intoxicated. 253 were killed in crash involving a drunk driver, 10 of them were teenagers. Only 27,333 people were convicted of DUI, out of the 199,000 plus people.

We decided to do highway safety because, almost every time either one of use drives down the highway, we see a crash. So we did some research and found out that Va is ranked one of the worst in worst in the country in Highway safety.
