F2F Change to Remote Learning November 30 - December 4 Please Read.
At the November 18 Board of Education meeting, the district made the decision to move to remote learning after the Thanksgiving holiday for 1 week. Students will begin learning through remote classes on Monday, November 30, 2020, and will remain in remote learning through Friday, December 4, 2020. The district data team will continue to evaluate the data during the remote week to assess health and safety for our school community. At this time, students are scheduled to return to the classroom for face to face learning on Monday, December 7, 2020. Instruction will not change for students currently enrolled in the virtual school.
Teachers will be providing families with schedules and links to live instruction, as well as recorded instruction. We understand that changing to remote learning may cause challenges for families, and children may not be able to log in during their typical classroom times. You will have access to videos of instruction just in case students experience technical difficulties or scheduling conflicts. Teachers and students have recently practiced accessing necessary remote instruction and learning tools. We hope that this will create an easier transition for our families.
Your child will bring home their necessary learning materials by Tuesday, November 24. This will include a school chromebook and charger, classroom books/papers, and personal items. These items will all need to return to school on December 7, 2020 with your child.
Students who receive additional support will continue to receive services including ESOL support, intervention, special education instruction, school counseling, speech and language therapy, and occupational therapy. Providers will reach out to families to share scheduled times for instruction.
If your child is unable to attend school, we ask that you call our school attendance line (513) 686-1707 # 3 to report their absence. Teachers will take attendance each morning, and parents will be notified if their child is not in attendance. Please email the Teacher if your child cannot attend a live session. In order for us to accurately assess our student and staff health data during the break and remote learning, we encourage families to report any suspected, probable, or confirmed cases of COVID-19, as well as any quarantines to our attendance line, at (513) 686-1707 # 1.
If you have technology difficulties and need assistance please call the help desk at (513) 686-1793 or email helpdesk@sycamoreschools.org.

Report Cards
First-quarter grades are available for all students via your Sycamore Parent Portal. A PDF of your child’s report card will be able to view and print. We are not sending home a printed version of the report card.
We want to make you aware that there may be an increase in absent hours reported if your student was under quarantine at any point throughout this first quarter. This is due to a coding error and will reflect correctly in the future. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation while we address this issue.
If you need a reminder about how to access Parent Portal or need to set up an account, here are directions for access to Parent Portal. If you need assistance, please contact The Technology Help Desk (513) 686-1793 or email them at helpdesk@sycamoreschools.org If you have any questions regarding your child’s report card, please contact your child’s teacher.

Hearing and Vision Screening for Virtual Students
During the fall of each school year, each building School Nurse holds Vision and Hearing screenings for all students in grades PS, K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11. Your child would normally be screened during this school year. Due to participation in virtual instruction, this screening will not be completed here at school.
In order to keep your child's screenings on track for school, providing updated Hearing and Vision screening information to your child’s School Nurse is very important.
Since the Hearing and Vision screening cannot be conducted virtually, please obtain the necessary information from your child’s primary physician from their annual well check appointment this year. If your child has had their well check after January 1, 2020, please send the screening results from that visit. If your child’s well check appointment is scheduled between now and June 1, 2021, please obtain the screening results from that visit. An additional visit may not be covered by insurance if it occurs before their next scheduled yearly well check. The Hearing and Vision information can be sent to your child’s School Nurse using the Screening Results Documentation Form.
We appreciate your assistance in helping us care for your child. Nurse Wyrick is available to answer any questions you may have regarding screenings, other health concerns or resources in our community. You can contact her a wyrickd@sycamoreschools.org or call 686-1710
