Parsons Partyline

Just one more week before a long rest. We will have a few more treats next week to show our appreciation for all that you do. Enjoy your weekend and stop in the cafeteria for hot breakfast on Monday:-)

Local Heros

Courtney Cooper for preparing a wonderful holiday performance. The students sounded wonderful and everyone enjoyed watching them shine last night.

Thank you Melanie for assisting with the sound system during the holiday performance and allowing us to use your space once again.

From Melanie Ford

Mickey McDade for all the help he gives me!

Terry Roche, Mona Vosough and Landa Torrence for helping me with Reindeer Bucks when Mickey wasn't available!

All of our staff for supporting our PTA Holiday shop and the Pride of Parsons Chorus on Thursday evening.

State Survey for School Personel

As part of our school climate rating, all staff members(teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, cafeteria and office staff) are asked to complete a brief survey. This will be part of our CCRPI score and is compared to parent and student ratings to determine our star rating. Our climate rating is then placed for public view on the GA Department of Education website. I appreciate and encourage your participation.

12.18.15 ~ Holiday treats delivered to your door by your Admin team:-)

We will have many visitors in the building next week and lots of activities taking place. Please be sure to keeps doors locked and valuables put away when you are not in your classroom.

Fountas and Pinnell Training

Thank you Stephanie Foerman, Joyce Bowens, Yimei Lord, Ashley Bailey, Jennifer Grace, Cathy Mithell, Alyssa Martin, Annette Watson, Cynthia Lewis, Susie Pittman, Trisha Baughman, Jennifer Lee, Olivia Pennington and Denae Wiley for spending a whole day with Wanda Mangum to disuss the F&P assessment system and implementing guided reading in the classrooms. We will look at a time that these teaches will share the information with their grade levels.

Where we are: We will continue to use the Fountas and Pinnell Assessment kits to benchmark our students in reading fluency and comprehension. Guided reading will continue to be an expected practice in our classrooms PreK-5 as we prepare our students to be confident and proficient readers.

Our Next Steps:

Each teacher will receive a copy of the book The Continuum of Literacy Learning. They will be placed in your mailboxes in January. We will review the process for completing an F&P assessment, to ensure consistency in practice. Also we will take a close look at supporting students at various reading levels using fiction and nonfiction text.

Holiday Winter Celebrations

Gabby will give each class extra bags for trash. Please be sure that bags do not get too heavy and pour all liquids down the drain before throwing the containers away.

Please remind parents that we can not serve warm/hot beverages to students.

Cynthia Jennings will place sign out sheets in your mailbox the day before your party for parents to check out students from your classroom. If parents would like to check out siblings, please direct them to the front office.
