Art, Music, Library, P.E. and Technology in December
Winter Concert is Coming Up!
Please join us Wednesday, December 19 at 6pm to celebrate the season with musical performances by our students. This year's theme is Peace on Earth. Each grade level will be performing a song which will be based on a country/region of the world followed by refreshments from several international countries.
The students have been practicing hard in music class and we look forward to seeing you at the concert!
Computer Coding in the Library and Computer Lab
The Hour of Code is upon us! In December, students around the world participate in computer programming experiences designed to allow students to explore problem solving and computer science in exciting new ways. At Chimborazo, students will work on coding experiences in the Library Media Center and the Computer Lab. Each grade level will be able to follow courses designed for their level on https://code.org/ or https://www.kodable.com/. Students may also participate in "unplugged" coding lessons as well.
Art
Making art is more than making marks. Art teaches us how to develop cognitive, affective, sensory, and motor development, using a problem-solving approach. Developing a means of self-expression while exploring different media is a critical piece of art instruction. Through their participation in art class, students begin to understand that their works of art are as unique and valuable as they are.
P.E.
The purpose of physical education is to develop physically-literate students – students who acquire the knowledge, processes, skills, and confidence needed to make healthy decisions and engage in meaningful physical activity both in the present and for a lifetime. The student will demonstrate mature form (all critical elements) for a variety of skills and apply skills in increasingly complex movement activities. The student will demonstrate an understanding of the purposes for rules, procedures, and respectful behaviors, while in various physical activity settings. Playing sports and participating in group exercise activities will help students to understand the importance of cooperation and teamwork with others.
