Staff Spotlight
My husband, an exercise physiologist, is a clinical consultant for a cardiopulmonary company. He trains doctors, nurses, hospital personnel, and fellow workers on the latest equipment for cardiopulmonary testing. He travels all over the country, but most often trains at their headquarters in Yorba Linda, CA. He travels about two weeks out of the month. So, when he is home, we cherish it and make the most out of it. We spend our family time in the Hill Country of Texas! We have two daughters who are enthusiastically involved in Community Theater and are always working on a production. They are either auditioning, rehearsing, or performing, and sometimes simultaneously. My oldest daughter Ella, 13, has played the violin since she was five. She is a member of the Hill Country Youth Orchestra, and often plays during our church services when not performing or rehearsing with the orchestra. She just started piano about a year ago. She loves playing on my grandmother's piano, which I painted bright blue. That is one of my hobbies. I love to sew, garden, craft, and tinker. I am always making something. Sometimes my projects are a work of art, and sometimes they are just a learning experience of what not to do. My youngest daughter, Ava Lea, 9, sings for her church, is actively involved in theater just like her sister, is learning how to play the mandolin, and plays almost every sport. She gets that from her daddy. As a family, we love to be outside, whether it be the beach, the river, the pool, the park, or hiking up a mountain. Last year, my husband and I taught our girls how to snorkel. That will always be one of my most cherished memories. We love God and love basking in nature's beauty. Besides working for the best school ever, I home school my two daughters, teach Sunday School, and serve on the Hill Country Youth Orchestra board and church council. Lastly, we are animal lovers, and have a Great Pyrenees named Jamie, who weighs about 130 pounds, Fifi, a mutt, who is the queen of our household despite her six pound frame, two cats who do not like each other, Johnny Cash and Gabby, and four chickens, Lucille Ball, Ethel, Doris Day, and Opal. Our free range chickens wander about our backyard, eat organic scratch and feed, yet hardly give me eggs. My husband is thinking about trading them in for some fried chicken, but I am all about accepting them for who they are, free-loading slackers. At least they are cute. This might have been a little long-winded, but that reveals my last fact about my family. We are all writers. My husband blogs about his fantasy football team, Ava Lea is my songwriter, Ella, an avid reader, writes short stories and novels about historical fiction and mythology (just not together), and I write just about anything. I have many unfinished writing projects, countless ideas written on sticky notes, and some published online blogs.
My families mentors at a children's ranch for abused and neglected children. It is one of our greatest passions.
