The Business Technology for Girls (BT4G) annual workshop was held on October 24th at Pfizer Inc. in Peapack, NJ. Each year the company invites groups of 15 girls from local schools to spend the day learning about careers in Information Technology and the paths to achieve it. The event strives to encourage women to consider technology as a profession by highlighting the roles women play in this field and how their work impacts patients and the health care industry.

BRMS Celebrates Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is celebrated nationally to honor the commitment of law enforcement to raise awareness about the destruction caused by drugs in both our neighborhoods and nationally. In recognition of this week, the BRMS Guidance Department-- thanks to funding from the Municipal Alliance-- invited BRMS families to participate by displaying red ribbons that were supplied by the school. Families were asked to tie their red ribbons to a visible tree or post near or around their homes to show that our community is "Too Smart for Drugs"!

PTO Wizards Fundraiser a Slam Dunk!

On Saturday, November 16, the Harlem Wizards faced off against the Chester Bulldogs in the BRMS gymnasium at two sold-out games. The home team included teachers, administrators, board members, parents, and police officers. A good time was had by all, and the money raised will benefit the PTO. Additionally, the Wizards will share a portion of their proceeds with a men's mental health organization. We hope to see them again next year for another great event!

8th Grade Visits Holocaust Museum in NYC

On Wednesday, November 20, the 8th grade traveled to New York City to experience the Museum of Jewish Heritage -- A Living Memorial to the Holocaust. It was the first time BRMS had the opportunity to visit the museum thanks to a grant from the Educational Foundation.

Tour guides led visitors through the timeline of events leading up to World War II, the persecution of the Jewish people, and the reading of Anne Frank. The visit culminated with a presentation from a Holocaust survivor. Students learned the dangers of intolerance and the painful lessons of the past in order to envision a world worthy of their future.
