PRAYER
PRINCIPAL'S POST
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
Welcome to the Term 4, Week 4 newsletter. We are almost halfway through the final term and it has been a very hectic last few weeks. Please take note of the remaining events in 2022 and some of the significant celebrations.
NEW STUDENTS
Last week, we welcomed Sofia Flores (5B) into our school community. Sofia has had a great start to her time at St Francis and we hope her and her family are feeling very welcomed.
2023 INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS
This year was our first with the Polygon Instrumental Program. There has been some fantastic progress from our children and those involved have thoroughly enjoyed the chance to learn an instrument. In 2023, Polygon and St Francis will once again offer 2x Instrumental Scholarships. The scholarship provides:
- 12 months worth of instrument hire
- 12 months worth of music tuition
- Music stand, music book
Instrumental tuition is only available to children in Year 3-6 and therefore, those children are encouraged to apply for the scholarship. We are hopeful they continue with the instrumental program after the scholarship concludes at the end of 2023. Parents are asked to fill in the Scholarship Application below and return to the school office. Applicants will be assessed and announced prior to the end of the term.
YEAR 5 SLEEPOVER
On Friday, our Year 5's participated in our annual hall sleepover. The year 5's were able to stay over the night, watch a movie and enjoy the cold hard floor of the gym! They had an amazing time and although very tired come Saturday, all reports were very positive. We see this as a great opportunity for children to prepare for camp in Year 6 by getting a chance to stay out overnight with their year group in the safety and relatively close proximity of being at school. Thank you to Mrs Bond, Mrs Kinder, Mrs Edwards and Mr Clarke for also staying over and supervising the children. Fair to say, they didn't get much sleep.
YEAR 6 CAMP
Our Year 6's also had a fantastic week spending three days and two nights at Kerem Adventure camp last week. After a rocky start to the weather, things fined up for the final day at Outback Splash. Thank you to the parents for supporting the camp experience for the year group and entrusting them to the supervision of our wonderful teachers. Thanks again to Mr Gorman, Mrs Freeman, Mr Clarke, Ms Hamilton and Mrs Baker for taking time away from their families for the benefit of the children.
P&F COLOUR-A-THON - FRI 4th NOV
Thanks to the P&F, we are looking forward to the annual Colour-A-Thon tomorrow at 1:45pm. Children are to wear a white shirt and black shorts to school on Friday. With a good weather forecast it is sure to be a very enjoyable afternoon for our children. Thank you also to the parent volunteers who are giving up their time to prepare the coloured chalk.
PRENDIVILLE GALLERY - FRI 4th NOV ASSEMBLY
Tomorrow, we will be welcoming some students from Prendiville before and after assembly to showcase some of their magnificent glass and woodwork items. Prendiville students are responsible for our St Francis Glass Tau Crosses that can be seen around our school. Parents are invited to arrive early for a look at stay after assembly to browse the items.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - SAVE THE DATE!
This year, we will be moving our Annual General Meeting to the afternoon on Wednesday 23rd November @ 3:30pm. We encourage more parents to attend as we report to our community on the year that was 2022. We also take the opportunity to announce the classroom teachers for 2023. To encourage parent attendees, staff will supervise any younger children on the playground throughout the meeting, which we anticipate to last under an hour.
We are currently busy finalising term dates and pupil free days for 2023. These will be published on the school website and in the newsletter later in the term. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend and great fortnight ahead.
Best wishes

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
ALL SAINTS MASS
On Tuesday we celebrated the feast of All Saints with a whole school Mass organised by the Year 2 classes. The Year 2s read magnificently and were ably supported by our amazing choir and wonderful altar servers. We are so very fortunate as a community to have the incredible support of Fr Darek and Fr Marian, and thank them for their service to our school and parish community. It is always wonderful for our children to see their teachers AND family members witness their faith by sharing these liturgical experiences with us.
AGNES FEAST DAY
Agnes Feast Day is coming up in two weeks time (Week 6 -Wednesday 16 November). All children in Agnes (PP - Year 6) will take part in a liturgy, team building games and a shared lunch. (8:45am - 1:10pm).

Our annual Christmas Hamper appeal will begin on Tuesday 15th November and will run through to Friday 3rd December. A note will come home on Tuesday 15th November including a list of donatable items. Some of the hampers will be displayed at the Thanksgiving Graduation Mass.
