Principal's Message
Dear Sabre families,
Another spectacular weekend to enjoy and there is also Oiler fever in the air to further boost spirits as the playoffs start on Monday. As we know, sport, along with other avenues of entertainment, provide levity for our students and school community during the course of the year.
Speaking about entertainment and student engagement, congratulations to our Senior Handball teams on winning silver and to our Junior team for winning the consolation final in our Sabre tournament. For our juniors to compete and place this high in a senior tournament speaks to their determination and teamwork. All in all, it was great to see teams from across Alberta in our community and have tons of fun, regardless of where teams placed.
Also, spring has also brought a return to theater season and an absolute buzz in the community. Our Performing Arts students are passionate and talented! If you have a chance to see them showcase these talents, you will definitely be amazed. Congratulations to the Drama 10 class on their presentation of the “Snow White Variety Show” this past Wednesday.

Skills Canada - On May 4th Commercial Foods, Cosmetology and Mechanics will be taking some of their classes to the Provincial Skills Competition at the Edmonton Expo Centre. Here students will have the opportunity to:
Try their hands at various skills and discover where their interests might lie with hands-on Try-A-Trades and Try-A-Skills.
Learn about career and education options by engaging with the industry and education exhibitors in Skill City.
Watch inspiring presentations at Centre Stage for an inside look at where a career in the trades or technologies can take you.
This event is great for students to learn all about the trades opportunities that are available in our province.
SAL will be a busy place on April 19 as it is PST Interviews starting at 4:30 p.m. and we are also hosting an Information Session for our incoming grade 10 students and families where they can further tour the school and have 1:1 access with our staff to ask questions specific to their child’s entry into high school. As we know, coming into a new building and high school comes with lots of emotions, ranging from excitement to anxiety and everything in between. It is our goal to be intentional and mindful of having all of our students comfortable starting this spring right until we start the 2023 - 2024 school year in the fall. Furthermore, for our current Grade 10 and 11 students, along with students in Grade 12 wishing to upgrade, please do not hesitate to reach out to us should you have questions or wish to sit down and have a conversation.
Graduation 2023 is less than two months away and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate such an amazing group of students. We will be hosting a Graduation Meeting for parents and students on April 20 at 5:30 p.m. Please CLICK HERE to join through Teams.
Also, we will be hosting the School Council Meeting on April 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Upper Library or virtually through Teams. CLICK HERE to join. Please see the Agenda below.
For the month of April, Salisbury Scholarship Packages have been available for pick up and are due on April 21, 2023. Scholarship packages are in the office, and on our website. I have also included the package below. Any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Schlegl.

In closing, have an awesome week! Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns.
