Mindfulness @ QVMS
March & April PBIS theme
About mindfulness
Mindfulness is the QVMS Positive Behavior theme for the months of March & April, and the timing is quite perfect!
Typically, we recognize mindfulness practices and healthy habits during these months because students are preparing to complete state standardized assessments, like the PSSA and Keystone Exams, and they are nearing the end of the school year. However, this year looks a bit different.
Now more than ever, QVMS students and staff should maintain healthy habits and practice mindfulness strategies in their homes.
What can you do at home?
Send a friend a card
Post kindness messages about students or staff members
Help out in the kitchen
Consider the following healthy habits and think about which habits you could improve:
- Time management
- Organization
- Food choice
- Physical activity
- Screen time (instructional vs. pleasure)
- Sleep schedule
- Coping skills (how do I handle my emotions?)
Healthy Habits from QVMS Teachers:
- Mr. Truchan exercises every week
- Mrs. Wick lives in the present moment
- Miss Neely gets at least 7 hours of sleep each night
- Mr. Jones maintains a consistent sleep schedule
- Mrs. Woods plays outside with her children
- Mr. Wolovich spends time outside - he especially likes to garden and hike
- Miss Comfort goes to the gym every other day
- Miss Benigni enjoys exercising
