Home & School Volunteer Opportunities
Our programs would not be successful without the help of our awesome volunteers! Would you like to become more involved at Salford Hills? Here are some great opportunities!

Coordinators should do their best to attend Home & School meetings to report on their event or committee. Meetings are held in September, November, January, March, and April and childcare is provided.
2019-2020 School Year
Family Breakfast- Shadow event coordinators this year to coordinate event in 2020-2021 School Year (event is on March 31 and April 1) 1-2 volunteers needed
*Coordinators plan, advertise, gather volunteers, communicate with Food Services regarding the event menu, and assist with set-up and clean-up.
Field Day- Shadow event coordinator this year to coordinate event in 2020-2021 School Year (event is on May 8; Rain Date May 22) 1-2 volunteers needed
*Coordinators plan, advertise, gather volunteers, communicate with school staff, and assist with event set-up and clean-up.
Ice Cream Social- Shadow event coordinator this year to co-coordinate event in 2020-2021 School Year (event is June 5) 1 volunteers needed
*Coordinators plan, advertise, gather volunteers, communicate with Food Services, and assist with set-up and clean-up.
Race for Education Donation Chair- Immediate opening for this role, 1 volunteer needed
*This position is responsible for closely communicating with the H&S Treasurer, for distributing the online donation link school-wide, for tracking online donations, and for receiving and recording physical donations. This position will also work closely with other members of the Race for Education committee.
2020-2021 School Year
Open Home & School Board Positions
*These positions will be voted on during the April 29 Home & School meeting. If you are interested in running for either position, please email Crystal at crittlemae@hotmail.com.
President- time commitment of approximately 10+ hours per month
Position responsibilities: The President is responsible for conducting and running executive board and general assembly meetings. The President prepares the agenda and ensures the meetings are run as smoothly and efficiently as possible. The President also communicates to the Salford Hills administration any issues or concerns that parents bring to his/her attention. The President relies heavily on the executive board and school volunteers. Without them, the job would be impossible to perform.
Vice President- time commitment of approximately 5-10 hours per month
Position responsibilities: The Vice President oversees committees (assisting when/where needed) and assists the President with their responsibilities. The time commitment is roughly 5-10 hours a month including executive board and general assembly meetings. Work can be done both at home and at school. The Vice President may be called upon at any time to temporarily assume the duties of President. A strong Vice President can and should be the President’s “right hand,” acting as an aide and assuming assigned responsibilities. The Vice President represents the President upon request. In the event of the President’s resignation, the Vice President assumes the President’s duties until the position is filled in accordance with the bylaws. Vice Presidents can be especially helpful in strengthening communication within the executive board as well as within the general membership and other entities in the school system and community.
Event Based Opportunities
Back to School Bash- Shadow event coordinator in 2020-2021 leading up to and at event in September to coordinate event in 2021-2022 School Year, 1 volunteer needed
*Coordinators plan, advertise, gather volunteers, and assist with event set-up and clean-up. It would be helpful if candidate was available to shadow over the summer as the event happens at the beginning of the school year.
Holiday Shop- Shadow event coordinator at event in December 2020 to co-coordinate event in 2021-2022 School Year, 1 volunteer needed
*Coordinators plan, advertise, gather volunteers, and assist with event set-up and clean-up.
Book Fair- Volunteer needed to chair the event in the 2020-2021 School Year, 1 volunteer needed
*Coordinator plans, advertises, gathers volunteers, and assists with event set-up and clean-up as well as event paperwork.
Ongoing Opportunities
Hands Across the District- Shadow event coordinator to coordinate program in 2021-2022 School Year, 1 volunteer needed
*This coordinator assists with organizing volunteer lists, distributing to event coordinators and teachers at the beginning of the school year, and scheduling TB tests with Mrs. Bealer for the volunteers.
Homeroom Parent Co-Chair- Coordinator will assist co-coordinator with the position in the 2020-2021 school year, 1 volunteer needed
*This position helps to gather homeroom parent volunteers for school socials. Co-chairs also help to gather volunteers for the first grade lunch at the beginning of the school year.
Video Literacy- Shadow event coordinator throughout the year to coordinate event in 2021-2022 School Year, 1-2 volunteers needed
*This position plans, gathers volunteers, and assists with the taping of students for the video literacy program in coordination with school staff.
5th Grade Memory Book- Shadow event coordinator throughout the year to coordinate the creation of the Memory Book in the 2021-2022 School Year, 1 volunteer needed
*This position organizes and publishes the 5th Grade Memory Book.
Enrichment- Shadow the current Enrichment volunteer (this positions assists with researching and proposing school enrichment opportunities), 1 volunteer needed
Family Bingo Night on March 20th!
We’re gearing up for the annual Salford Hills Bingo Night! Join us on Friday, March 20th from 7-9pm in the cafeteria for some fun competition and great prizes! Look for a Parent Volunteer letter coming home in your child’s communicator on Monday.
