Student Led Conferences

Student-Led Conferences are around the corner. Teachers will be in their classrooms from 5:30-8:00 on Oct. 16, 18 and 23. We encourage families with last names beginning with A-H to come on Oct 16, I-P to come Oct. 18 and Q-Z to come Oct. 23. The focus of the student-led conferences is to allow your child to demonstrate his/her scholastic accomplishments. As a family member, you can provide encouragement and help your student set goals for the remainder of the year. Progress Reports have been posted to the Parent Portal.

Our goals for this conference format are:

  • To help families understand what is taking place in the classroom

  • To communicate about student learning

  • To help students accept ownership for learning and behavior

  • To support students in enhancing organizational and leadership skills

  • To assist students in building self-esteem and self-confidence

Each conference will last approximately 10 minutes and we encourage students and family members to visit as many teachers as they would like, in each teacher’s classroom. There will be numerous student-led conferences taking place at one time within each classroom. We invite you to begin student-led conferencing in any of your child’s teachers’ classrooms, when there is an open space. Throughout this process there will be opportunities to have brief conversations with teachers and your child.

We look forward to working with you and your student!

With the cooler temperatures coming, we want to make sure everyone is aware of our cold weather policy. Our students will be outdoors until the bell rings every day, unless the weather drops below 20 degrees or it's significantly raining/snowing. Only in these instances will we open up the cafeteria and allow students to enter the building before the first bell. Please make sure your student is dressing appropriately for the season!

2019 Great Words, Great Works Book List

Each year, the Scripps National Spelling Bee publishes its School Spelling Bee Study List, a list of 450 words to help students prepare for a school-level spelling bee. These 450 words come from a list of books carefully selected by the Bee’s editorial team for their engaging and age-appropriate content, as well as their rich vocabulary. That list of books is called the Great Words, Great Works list.
