HOW TO PREPARE FOR MCAS.
Teachers and students have worked hard all year and it is almost time for MCAS. Students persevered, developing stamina, and problem solving skills. We are ready for MCAS. Parents always ask how they can prepare students for the MCAS. Experts agree that parents can best support students by:
- Making sure that your child is well rested and eats breakfast.
- Seeing that your child arrives at school on time and is relaxed.
- Remembering to send in a healthy snack on the morning of testing. Teachers will send home more information.
- Sending a sweater if it’s a cool day or dress in layers for a warm day. Comfort counts.
- Encouraging your child to do the best work possible and to have a positive attitude.
- Encouraging your child to listen/read carefully to all test-taking directions and to ask questions if any directions are unclear.
- Reminding your child not to get stuck on any one item.
- Encouraging your child to check answers for accuracy if time permits.
- Reminding your child that we only ask that they do the best they can and give their best effort. We all believe in Glenwood students!
Fourth and Fifth grades have finished the ELA MCAS.
Followed by exercise and movement.
And finally, we begin MCAS.

Makerspace News
Please do not drop off Makerspace materials if we are not in the building. We will have to throw away the materials if we are unsure of where they came from. Thank you for understanding.
A true makerspace is defined not by what's in it, but rather by what comes out of it: projects, experiences, artifacts, and learning. At Glenwood we are looking to have a makerspace that opens opportunities for children to design, create and explore. We are looking for donations of materials we can use in our makerspace. We are in desperate need of materials for our makerspace. Some things that we can not get enough of are:
small pieces of wood and nails for building
Cereal and cardboard boxes
masking and duct tape,
toilet paper and paper towel rolls,
craft supplies,
cereal boxes,
cardboard,
fabric, yarn,
streamers
plastic containers,
or anything that may end up in the recycling bin
We appreciate these and other materials that are in a clean and usable condition.

What is Happening at Glenwood!
Thank you to all of our community readers who took the time out of their busy days to read to Glenwood Students!
Experiments with Mrs. Ross and Mrs. Groll.
Mrs. Ross cut gummy worms lengthwise to create legs. She then soaked the gummy worms in a water and baking soda mixture for 15-20 minutes. Students were then given a cup of white vinegar. Each student slowly added a gummy worm to the cup of vinegar. They then watched as the worm/octopus appeared to come alive.
Art
During enrichment in art, students work on cursive writing.
