Microwaves is a form of electromagnet radiation. Which have a variety of applications, including communications, radar and mostly used for cooking.



Microwaves are a form of electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths ranging from one meter to one millimeter; with frequencies between 300 MHz (100cm) and 300 GHz (0.1 cm).

The cost of the first microwave was $5,000, and was monstrous, 6 feet tall (size of a refrigerator) and weighed nearly 750 pounds.

How a Microwave Oven Works

Summary

The man describes how a microwave oven heats food, and how the microwave vacuum tube (magnetron) generates radio frequencies that cause the water in food to rotate back and forth. He shows the standing wave inside the oven. He also shows how you can measure the wavelength with melted cheese. He wraps it up by describing how a magnetron generates radio waves.
