SPOTLIGHT ON..... SANTA CLARA UNIVERSITY! Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Santa Clara University is a mid-size, private Catholic university that blends a philosophy of social justice with access to the tech capital of the world. Located in Santa Clara, California, at the southern tip of the San Francisco Bay, adjacent to San Jose (2 miles from San Jose International Airport), SCU is a stone's throw away from the mountains and beach in Santa Cruz, San Francisco, and Lake Tahoe. Access to jobs and internships are plentiful for SCU students and graduates, meaning students also have easy access to an expansive alumni network, all while enjoying nearly 300 days of sunshine a year.
Santa Clara University (SCU) students are proud Broncos in red and white, and the student body is known for its collaborative spirit, strong sense of community, and an emphasis on academics. SCU blends high-tech innovation, campus diversity, and social consciousness, offering 50 majors, minors, and programs. With a 95% retention rate (first-year students who return the following year), SCU is known by their 5,571 undergraduate students and 2,975 graduate students for being “beautiful, sunny, and full of opportunity.” SCU’s most popular majors are Economics, Finance, Accounting, Social Sciences, Engineering, Biology, Psychology, Communications, and Computational/Applied Mathematics. Notable SCU alumni are Governor of California Gavin Newsom, actor Shamar Moore, professional NBA player Steve Nash, former California Governor Jerry Brown, Professional American women’s soccer team player Julie Ertz, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Jeff Brazil, TV Producer Andy Ackerman, and former CIA Director and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta. SCU offers 19 intercollegiate sports and competes in NCAA Division 1, in the West Coast conference.
Scores on the SAT or ACT are not required for students applying nor will they be disadvantaged for omitting them in the admission process. For those who wish to submit scores for consideration, self-reported test scores can be submitted through the student's SCU application status portal.
Students can apply to Santa Clara University via the Common App HERE and should note important first year applicant DEADLINES . Financial aid & scholarship information can be found HERE .
