Fourth Grade News
Week of December 7th - 11th
Welcome Family and Friends to Grandparents' Day!
The fourth graders are all in the holiday spirit and have been practicing some special songs to perform Tuesday at Grandparents' Day. They are excited to welcome their visitors to school. The program will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Salem Theater, with a reception following in our classrooms.
Winter Book Fair
Today was the first day of our annual Winter Book Fair which is being held in the Forum through Thursday. Wednesday is "Family Night" with music and fun until 7:00 p.m. Please come do some holiday shopping and support our school. A percentage of all books sold will go to support our library. Thank you!
Oral Book Reports will be presented this Thursday, Dec.10th
This Thursday, each of the fourth graders will present their oral book report on a book of their choice. We are excited to hear more about the stories the students have been enjoying this year. After our own presentations on Thursday, the fourth graders will attend Friday afternoon's performance of St. George's Oratory Festival finals competition in the theater. This is an annual event for all students in grades 5th through 8th.
Christmas Service next Thursday, Dec. 17th
St. George's Christmas service will be held next Thursday, Dec. 17th at 7:00 p.m. at St. George's Church. Students in 1st - 8th grade will be performing at the service. We hope you are able to join us for this wonderful holiday celebration. For more details, see the Flame.
Congratulations Pete Metzinger and Ben Kornman!
Please join us in congratulating fourth graders, Pete Metzinger and Ben Kornman, for placing third in the city wide New Orleans Academic Games League's (noagl.org) Equations Tournament. The boys will be recognized at NOAGL awards ceremony this Thursday evening at Christian Brothers school.
Fourth Grade Christmas Party!
Many thanks to our room moms, JJ Kornman and Carol Rooney, for helping coordinate our class Christmas party next Friday, Dec. 18th. The students will attend the annual Faculty Follies performance at 10:00 a.m. in the gym, followed by our Christmas party in the classrooms from 11:00 a.m until dismissal at noon for the holiday break.
