Upcoming Virtual Training, January 30th, 2016

I hope you've been enjoying the snow and time away from school!

Save the Date! Our virtual training session for participants who were NOT able to attend the in-person workshop in December will occur on Saturday, January 30th. You can view the tentative agenda here; plan on working together from 9 am until 2 pm. I will send information about how to connect to the virtual session a few days before our time together.

If you did attend the in-person workshop but you'd like an opportunity to collaborate on your writing, you are welcome to join us for the writing workshop, which will begin around 12:45pm on January 30th. Please email me if you attending the in-person workshop but you'd like to participate in the virtual writing workshop.

I'm looking forward to the opportunity to "meet" the rest of you. If you have any questions about the workshop, please let me know.

For the last several weeks, Kentucky teachers have been working on www.kyedpolicy.org, a website that aims to inform the public about education policy and give them an opportunity to share their voices.

You're welcome to visit the site to learn more about your local legislators and read KY education news. There is also an opportunity to respond to specific components of Senate Bill 1 and ask questions about the legislation.

Through a partnership with KDE and other organizations, a Q & A section will be featured on the site in the future. Yours could be one of the first questions answered.

The site is a great opportunity to be part of a solutions-oriented conversation around policy. I know education policy may seem overwhelming, but it's important that teachers understand how policies impact classrooms & students in every community across the state.

I encourage you to have a look at it and get involved in whatever way makes sense to you.
