Assistant Principal's Corner- Dr. Nieves
Welcome Back BEN Bolts,
I hope that you have had a wonderful summer and I am so excited to see you again or meet you for the first time.
I hope that you are ready for an exciting new school year and I look forward to getting to meet all of our families and community members.
As we begin this new school year, we are excited to introduce that we will have several dates set aside for support and help with accessing Genesis Parent Portal accounts.
The Genesis Parent Portal houses your student's homeroom teacher assignment, grades, attendance records and so much more.
Also, please remember to update your immunization records with our school Nurse, Nurse Patel as well as reach out to her with any dietary restrictions for your student(s).
We look forward to a wonderful and busy school year and please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Dr. Nieves
School Nurse
Please be sure to connect with Nurse Patel on any/all of the following topics:
Immunization forms, updated medical forms, and any food allergy concerns.
She can be reached at margi.patel@edison.k12.nj.us.
Thank you!
First Day of School for Students- September 6, 2022
Arrival and Dismissal
Arrival:
If your student(s) is arriving to BEN by bus they will be welcomed in the front of the school by staff and they will help our students find their classrooms.
If you are dropping off your student, please park on the side parking lot. Your student's teacher will be outside and ready to greet you. Our teachers will be outside to greet your students from 8:45-8:55 am, this Tuesday- Friday, September 6- 9, 2022.
Starting Monday, September 12, students will walk into the building between 8:45-8:55 am and we will still have staff there ready to help them find their classroom.
Dismissal:
- If your student is a bus rider, we have staff that will help them find their bus to get home. Only students with a bus pass can ride on a bus to and from school.
- If your student is a Latchkey student, or is registered for Small Blessings and the Learning Experience, we have staff members who will ensure they get to their correct After School program.
- If your student is a car/walker student, their teacher will walk them outside to the side Parent parking lot to meet you. They will stand with their teacher and their homeroom until someone comes to the homeroom teacher for them to release their student to an adult/guardian.
We ask that you please help to support our safety procedures for arrival and dismissal in order to ensure that all students get to and from school safely.
Please be patient, especially during the first couple of days, as many families are still adjusting their routines and becoming more familiar with the routines and procedures at BEN Franklin.
Lastly, if your student does not have a bus pass on their Genesis Portal, they cannot ride the bus to and from school, until there is a bus pass on their portal, and that you can view in the Genesis Parent Portal. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out directly to the Office of Transportation.
Thank you!
