Health and safety update
Dear Parkway Families,
As we have shared, the Parkway Board of Education will meet tomorrow, January 13 at 7 p.m. to review and vote on recommended changes to our health plan. The comprehensive recommended plan is posted here. You can watch the meeting live online here.
We are recommending the following changes:
Pending board approval, masks would continue to be required inside all Parkway schools and buildings through February 18, 2022. This is subject to change based on conditions in each particular school building, conditions in the community at large and CDC guidelines.
Our board will continue to review health conditions, including again at the January 19 and February 16 meetings prior to any new changes.
We continue to update data daily on our Community Health Dashboard so you can follow health conditions in each school.
Over the past week, we have faced the highest number of student and staff illnesses since the pandemic began. Today, we are just starting to see some improvement with less staff out sick and more substitutes available to cover classrooms. We are certainly not back to typical staffing levels, but we are encouraged by the improvements.
I continue to be grateful for our teachers and staff. Every single staff member in Parkway has gone above and beyond to take care of our students by covering classrooms, picking up additional duties and pitching in wherever help is needed in order to keep our schools open.
We are thankful for your support and patience as we continue to make decisions in the best interest of our students and staff. You can expect an update from me after the board meeting and I will continue to stay in touch.
Thank you for your support,
Dr. Keith Marty
Superintendent
Parkway Schools
