7 Mindsets

In the month of May we have been focusing on The Time is Now. The Time is Now teaches us that all your power exists in the moment. You cannot change the past and the future has not yet happened, so the only thing to do is take purposeful action in the present.

The four elements of The Time is Now are:

Embrace Every Moment- squeeze the most out of your experiences

Get in the Zone- think before you act

Let Yourself Be Vulnerable- attack a risk or face a fear!

Act on Purpose- take meaningful action towards your dreams

Create a vision board and develop an action plan with your children. Teach them how to prioritize, and encourage them to take positive and purposeful action toward their dreams. Sometimes, small steps can make the biggest difference, simply by taking action. It’s okay to plan, but while many people wait for the perfect plan or moment in time before they act, the happiest and most successful individuals take action all the time… even (and especially) when their plans aren’t perfect.

New Kindergarten Dates

  • May 31, 2016 and June 1, 2016 - Kindergarten Screening for all upcoming kindergarteners. Please visit the Sign Up Genius link to reserve your time: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/20F0F48AFA828AA8-kindergarten1
  • August 2, 2016 – Kindergarten Open House will be held at a separate time from 9:00am-10:30am. All other grades will be from 4:00pm-6:30pm. This is a fun time for our new kindergarten students to ride the bus to school, see your classroom, meet your teacher, and learn all about kindergarten routines and procedures.

Be a Mentor!

Research shows mentoring can reduce absenteeism while increasing social, emotional and overall well-being resulting in youth who are productive members of society. If you would like more information about how you can become a mentor, click here to view the flyer with upcoming training dates.

Meal Charges

As we come to the end of another school year, Forsyth County Food Services will no longer allow Negative charges to student accounts effective after meal service on Friday, May 6th 2016.

To ensure that your child can continue to enjoy school meals or to clear your student’s account of any negative balances, please send a payment (cash or check) to the school, or visit www.MyPaymentsPlus.com to make a payment online.

From the Clinic

If your student has any medications in the clinic please pick those up by the afternoon of 5-27-16. FCS clinics are not permitted to store any medications over the Summer break. Should your student continue to need medications or care from the clinic, all care plans must be completed/signed for each new school year. Please make sure they are dated no sooner than 5-27-16. The care plan must be valid for the whole school year to provide constant and precise care of your student. These forms can be found on our Mashburn web page under school nurse. Or FCS web page under Student support services then Health services. Feel free to email or call with any questions. dmagoon@forsyth.k12.ga.us or 770-889-1630 x750113

Media Center News

Mrs. Hobbs is sending out a HUGE Thank You for the support of the Spring BOGO Book Fair. Parents, teachers and students got some great deals!!! Congratulations to Elijah Schwaeber from Mrs. White’s 3rd grade class. He won the Summer Reading Basket Giveaway!!! We appreciate all the volunteers and excitement generated for this event.

We are so excited about the Media Center upgrades that will be happening over the summer-new modern shelving and comfy, colorful seating! We need your help to get ready. Mrs. Hobbs is faced with the task of boxing EVERY book in the media center before the end of the school year. We need as many boxes as we can get, but they need to be a manageable size when filled with heavy books-so about the size of a copy paper box, approximately 18X10X12. If you work in a place where boxes are frequently discarded, will you please check to see if there are any you can claim for our media center? We hope to get started on this next week.

Bear-ly Moving

Run Club will not meet next week. We look forward to seeing everyone up and running back in the fall. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Schmidt at mschmidt@forsyth.k12.ga.us.
