Behavioral Specialist and Math Intervention Schedule:

Kim Sturdahl will be at Tiogue on Thursday and Friday of this week.

Kim and I have been analyzing the behavior data and referrals over the past week.

Many issues are arising in the bathrooms and during unstructured or itinerant times.

I am thinking of beginning a consistent school-wide bathroom sign out form. Students would need to place their name and time out of class.

Try to only send one student out of your room at a time when using the bathroom unless you are taking your whole class during a scheduled time.

Also, when leaving Kim a note on her desk, please let her know who it is from

when speaking with Kim in the hallway about an issue please remember that she is probably going to work on an issue in another part of the building. Follow up with a note to her in case she is working on multiple issues.

MATHEMATICS: Mary V. will be at Tiogue for the week. Please let Mary and I know about Number Talks and our other intervention programs. I got to see Number Talks in action in a few rooms over this past week. What a great way to help to bolster number sense!

Week 5:

See Behavior Specialist area above. Kim has been working hard to update our documents and forms. A Tiogue Behavior Form Google Shared Folder has been set up with the latest information. Kim has the referral folder system in place on her office door.

Some faculty and staff asked about extending our Start With Hello work-

Like I had expressed at our first meeting of the school year, PBIS, Conscious Discipline, Restorative Practices, SEL, Start With Hello, all link up nicely together - their philosophies have a common thread can be found tying all programs together.

So, the short answer is, YES! Keep the work moving forward, and share your ideas.

We can post them to this section of the newsletter.

Here is a nice video on YouTube that Alicia from Blackrock shared with her faculty/staff:

How to Say Hello in 46 different languages

Nurse's Corner of important information

Friday 10/12/18 Dr. Gordon our school dentist will be here for dental screenings for students who have not turned in a dental card at 9am.

Please see the Coventry Schools home page for our flu clinic information.

RIDE and OSHA require all teachers to complete a Universal precaution (required), and Epi Pen (not required, but encouraged) training yearly. I will be reviewing both of these at our orientation.

Don't forget to hand in your certificates to Gina very soon.

For Universal Precautions:

Here is the training on RIDE where you can read through and print a certificate of completion. This is REQUIRED bloodborne pathogens training. Please sign the certificate of completion and turn it into me. I am required to keep a record of completion.

For Epi Pen:

Here is the link to the Epi Pen video, please cut and paste in your browser. It reviews sign and symptoms of anaphylaxis (life threatening allergy), and shows you how to administer an Epi Pen.

Thank you,
