Student Device Pickup

Wichita Public Schools

We are pleased to be able to provide a mobile device to our USD 259 My School Remote Students.

Device distribution is scheduled by school and grade level. Distribution begins the week of August 31st and will continue with a select group of schools each week.

Masks are required for all visitors


To ensure the best support, families must pick up their device on the designated pick-up day for their child's school.

Requirements to Receive a Device:

  • Student must already be enrolled in the 2020-21 School Year.
  • Parents must have a photo ID at the time of pick-up.
  • Only the parent/guardian listed in Synergy may receive a device.

Parent - Student Device Contract

One of the processes you will do as a part of the device distribution will be our Parent/ Student Device Contract. This is new this year and we offer a voluntary device protection program listed below.

Voluntary Device Protection Program

Parents/Guardians are responsible for the loss, theft, or damage to the technology device assigned to their students. To protect against this risk, Wichita Public Schools has initiated a Voluntary Device Protection Program. The Parent/Guardian may enroll in the Voluntary Device Protection Program for the 2020-21 school year by paying a one-time, annual fee of $30 per device due in full at the time equipment is checked out. This item is not eligible for an Agree to Pay. Payment may be made by cash, check, or credit/debit card. If the parent/ guardian allows meal status disclosure, there is an opportunity for reduced fees. Participation in this program is voluntary, but it is important for Parents/Guardians to understand that those declining to participate in the Voluntary Device Protection Program are obligated to reimburse Wichita Public Schools for loss of or damage to their student’s technology device, less depreciation, as determined by Wichita Public Schools in its discretion. This will cover both the device and the mifi if provided by the district.

Internet Services

Additionally, if you have indicated in your online enrollment that you needed internet, we will supply a mifi device or internet capable device to you at that time. MIFI devices will be distributed one per family, as each mifi supports up to 15 devices.

Tip #1 - Have your student login to our Portal first

Rapid Identity is the hub for USD 259 educational apps for students. This is where your student will log in to access applications like Microsoft Teams and Office 365 along with other apps.

In an internet browser, type https:// portal.usd259.net.

To log into the Rapid Identity portal, students will use their pupil ID number and password.

Microsoft Teams

Students will log into Teams to attend classes virtually. Access Teams by clicking on the Teams tile through Rapid Identity.

Office 365 and Student Email

Students will have their own email this year. They will access Outlook email through office.com

Students will find all of the Microsoft applications in the Microsoft O365 tile on the Rapid Identity portal page including student email, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
