Happening this week...
The 5th six weeks grading period began Tuesday, February 23.
Pre-AP Science ~ Mrs. Sanchez and Ms. Marek
Marek: This week we will be starting and finishing our mini unit titled RIPPLE. Our unit is all about energy consumption and conservation and take a small scale approach to causing environmentally conscious change in our communities. Students will design share and critique small-scale plans for reducing STEAM’s carbon footprint.
Energy Recipe assignment due on Google Classroom Monday the 26th

Sanchez-This week we will be finishing up Now We’re Cookin’ with a test on Friday, March 2nd in class. We will review the last half of the week while we are working on our energy transformation from our recipes. It is optional to bring the recipe or food of choice to share with the class on Friday.

This week we will study Phases of the Moon and Tides. Students will have a summative on Friday. Tutoring will be Wednesday and Friday afternoon this week.

We will wrap up our unit on expressions, equations, and relationships this week. Students will learn how to identify independent and dependent quantities from
tables and graphs and write equations that represent the relationship between the independent and dependent variables.

This week we will begin our next unit over probability. Students will learn to make predictions and comparisons using experimental data.
Humanities ~ Mrs. Moore, Ms. Lindamood, Mrs. Strother and Ms. Peden
Students have created commercials, posters, or digital brochures to promote the Iron Giraffe Challenge for South Sudan. At this point, we have collected $450 for building wells to provide safe, clean drinking water for the people of South Sudan. Check out this site to follow our fundraising progress. We began our study of European geography last Wednesday and will launch our literature circles on Monday.
Global Business and Professional Communication ~ Ms. Tedford and Ms. Owen
This week we are starting our second unit, That’s Not Fair, about the benefits of fair trade. We will be learning about how we can make a difference in the lives of people around the world from right here in Burleson! Ms. Tedford will be gone Thursday and Friday.

This week students will be working on their final One Point Perspective artworks. Students have been working very hard to creatively apply all that we have learned during this unit!
Beginning Band ~ Mr. Sypert
We are beginning to work on our concert music. Please make sure that you are encouraging your students to practice at least 10 minutes every day.
P.E. ~ Coach Dunson
I hope you enjoyed some new activities inside while we endured some bad weather. We will begin our pickleball unit next week! I hope you're looking forward to some fun action and learning a new sport.
