Happy Diwali to all observing the Festival of Light
Careers Fair
On Thursday 16th November we will be holding our Careers Fair for Year 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13 students.
We will be welcoming over 55 exhibitors to Chelmer Valley High School. The exhibitors include 5 universities, 5 colleges, The Armed Forces, The NHS, GlaxoSmithKline, Teledyne, Transport for London, Dance Projection, Greater Anglia, Geo-Environmental, College of Esports, Investment 20/20, Polar Creative, Titan Airways plus many more.
Careers Day
On Thursday 16th November our Year 10 and 11 students will be participating in a Careers Day.
The Year 11 students will start to write their CVs and cover letters. They will then learn about interview skills in preparation for their Mock Interview Day in March where they will participate in a mock interview with a professional. Later in the afternoon they will listen to a talk in the Hall about apprenticeships from an industry specialist.
Year 10 students will be looking at their Post-16 options, how to find work experience in preparation of the students going out on their work placements in May 2024. (more details to follow on this) They will then listen to a talk about apprenticeships from an industry specialist.
1 : 1 Careers Meetings
We are continuing with our 1:1 Careers meetings for Year 11 students. Please encourage your child to check their emails for date and times of their interviews. If your child would like to be seen as sooner they can come to the Careers Suite and enquire there.

The Year 7 students have continued with their Transition support programme which will run until February half term, this is to support them with all the changes they are currently facing.
Assemblies this week have been about Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday.

Year 11 Drama Reminder!
On Wednesday 15th November, the Component 1 Evaluation controlled assessment is taking place in O19 during Periods 3 & 4. Students are reminded that they need to submit their improved evaluation notes on Satchel One by the day before in order for them to be printed ready for the assessment the following day.

The notice of interest letter has been sent out for the Year 9 Harry Potter Careers Studio Tour. Please complete the Google form if interested in a career in a creative field or opting for a creative subject.
Science Notices
Year 13 Physics - CERN Trip Information Evening - Thursday 16th November 2023.
In preparation for the CERN trip on 23rd November, we would like to meet with students and parents to impart important details regarding the trip. We are holding the meeting on Thursday 16th November 2023. This will be in the Main Hall at 6.00pm.
Science Revision Guides, workbooks and cards
Science revision resources are now available to purchase via Wisepay for GCSE and KS3 students. Once purchased please bring a printout of the receipt to Mrs Wade in the Science office between 8.30am and 12.30pm, Monday to Friday.
We feel that these resources will help to support your child’s GCSE Science studies and prepare them for their final exams. Thank you for your continued support.
