What's Happening November 19-30, 2018
Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow
One thing consistent with being a New Englander is never knowing what the weather will be.
We've had a busy and crazy morning with all the excitement a 2 hour delay and lots of snow will bring.... complete with a mini snowman in front of the school!
Remember that Snow Day announcements will be done through connect ed - the 'robo' calls as our primary means of communication. This will go to the cell and home phones you have on file with Mrs. Priddy for this purpose. We will also post on our Facebook page and try to send out a notification through the school app as well.
Blizzard Bags- This is a reminder that we utilize Blizzard Bags during the winter months to reduce the number of days that need to be made up at the end of the school year and to keep our students consistently learning and reinforcing their skills. That being said, we all enjoy a good snow day off! The first THREE (3) snow days- are just that- SNOW DAYS that we will make up at the end of the year. Should Mother Nature bless us with more than 3 snow days, the Blizzard Bags will go into effect.
Students will be provided with Blizzard Bag work to have at home in the event of a snow day. Our goal is to always have work for 2 days at home in the event of a double snow day off. Younger students will have actual Blizzard Bags filled with work that can be completed at home, older kids may have some physical work as well as online work and assignments to complete. Students have a week from the snow day to turn in their assignments- that provides some flexibility for those that one to take the opportunity to hit the slopes or maybe help their child finish the assignments over the weekend. There's also no rule that assignments sent home before the snow day cannot be completed early!!! Just remember to turn it in when it is due!
Please check in with your child's teacher if you have any questions and be on the look out for those Blizzard Bags to come home after Thanksgiving...
Please do not block the rectory drive way during pick up- leave space for the cars to get out. Thank you
Service- It's one of the pillars of our Catholic Education
Socks for Santa
We’d love to have ALL of our students participate in this fulfilling service project by donating at least 4 pair of socks. Our goal is to DOUBLE the amount we collected last year…. 1000 socks! That’s a lot of socks but I know our students are up for the challenge. This is the perfect way to be in service to others and supporting those in need at our local homeless shelters, women’s shelters and the elderly of our community.
Please consider helping those who are in need of socks or underwear for the cold winter ahead.
A small package of socks or underwear each month is a small price to pay for knowing that the elderly in our neighborhoods are going to be warm this winter.
Thank You from the third grade students of St. Anna Catholic School
NJHS is collecting Items for our Veteran's!
Hearts for Heat
The grade 6-7-8 students are planning their annual service project to raise funds through a Thanksgiving Bake Sale for families of our parish who may be in need of assistance this year in the purchase of home heating oil.
All students are welcome to bake for the bake sale.
The middle school students plan to sell homemade baked goods to members of the school community who come to parent-teachers conferences on Monday, Nov. 19th and Tuesday, Nov. 20th.
If you are willing and able to bake a cake, cupcakes, pie, cookies, breads, or any other “sweet” which the students can sell during parent conferences, please contact Mrs. Priddy
And don't forget to stop by the sale when you come to conferences! Lots of delicious treats for everyone.

Turkey Trot fun run is coming!

Students in grades 3-8 then complete their turkey trot race on a route that goes from the in front of the church, down sixth street, across middle and eventually finishes back in front of the church where the other students are able to cheer them on as they cross the finish!
ALL students in K-8 are welcome to participate: There are NO sign ups this year.... to make it easier- if your child would like to participate in either race they are more than welcome!
Mrs. Priddy is also looking for helpers to supervise along the route or track the younger students' laps. Please email her if you’re able to help that morning.
