AEHS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
October 30, 2022
Tomorrow is October 31, and just like that, October has come to an end - Happy Halloween! As some of us prepare to celebrate Halloween tomorrow, I want to remind everyone to be safe going out to Trick or Treat tomorrow. I also want to remind those of you who plan to come to school dressed for Halloween to dress appropriately. Remember, full face paint and masks are not permitted, as we need all students, staff, and visitors, remain recognizable at all times.
A sign up list will be shared this week so parents and caregivers can schedule conferences with their students' teachers. In the interim, I want to remind you again that you do not have to wait until Parent Teacher Conferences to meet with your students' teachers. Please feel free to use the AEHS Staff Directory to reach out directly to the staff member(s) you would like to speak to if you have questions.
Have an amazing week!
Mark

A Letter from Dr. McKnight - Superintendent (New)
Dear MCPS Families,
I am writing to update you on our school district’s safety and security protocols, and our ongoing efforts to communicate about emergency situations.
MCPS principals and assistant principals have been participating in updated safety and security protocol training. These same updates have been communicated to all school staff members, so that consistent safety procedures are used and understood across the district. As we continue to evaluate our processes and work together, schools will contact families about any revised procedures so that you know what to expect and when to expect it during an emergency situation. In November, principals will share information with PTAs and other community groups about safety and security protocols.

Best,
Christopher Cram

CONGRESSIONAL APP CHALLENGE (REPEAT)
Good morning! Congressmember Jamie Raskin wants you to know that he is hosting a district-wide Congressional App Challenge (CAC) for middle school and high school students to encourage them to learn to code and inspire them to pursue careers in computer science.
Through the 2022 Congressional App Challenge (CAC) students have the chance to create an app on any topic and platform they choose – and be rewarded for their efforts! Check out the Congressional App Competition Past Winners!
Participation is so easy! Students do not need to submit a finished app to the challenge. Instead, the App Challenge requires students to submit a short video explaining their app and showing footage of any finished portions of the application.
Additional information about the competition can be found on our website.
There is still plenty of time to take part in the Challenge. The deadline for students to register and submit their app online is 12:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, November 1, 2022.
For your convenience, below, are several links to important information regarding the CAC:
