Check out the link to the School Picture Form from HSP at the top of this newsletter.
NOTE: School Picture Retake Day: Thursday, September 22nd during SRT
Chromebooks @ Schedule Pick-up
WHAT: As a part of our ongoing efforts to provide students with tools to be successful, FAPS will now be providing a chromebook to all students in grades 9 - 12 for the 2022-23 school year. Chromebooks must be returned when a student leaves or graduates from FHS. More information about this program can be found on the links below.
COST: Chromebooks will be $25, which will cover user care and upkeep. Payment can be done ahead of time online with E-Funds, or by check or cash at FHS. (If you haven't used E-Funds, please see the registration process in the Technology Links portion further down in this newsletter.)
Necessary Items for Chromebook Distribution:
- Students/parents MUST have updated their annual registration in Parent Vue PRIOR to chromebook distribution AND picked up his/her schedule to verify enrollment status.
- Students/parents must read and agree to all policies and procedures for use, care, and maintenance of the chromebook AND completed the Chromebook Student Agreement (see button below).
- Students/parents must pay $25.00 nonrefundable user care and repair fee. This fee will be collected at the time of distribution.
Student Parking
FHS Student Parking link went live Friday, July 15th. Respondents were broken up into smaller groups and given a specific time slot to purchase parking stickers on August 11 or 15th.
An email was sent to students' school Gmail on Thursday (8/4/22) with those time slots.
Steps for Parking:
1. Update registration in Parent Vue PRIOR to registering for a parking spot.
2. Complete FHS parking registrations via the students' FHS gmail account (remember this is a closed system for the protection of students and his/her information).
3. Print, sign, & bring a copy of your parking registration to your time slot. Remember, parent signature is also required on the paperwork.
4. Bring $20 (cash or check payable to Fenton High School) to pay for your sticker.
5. Scope out FHS parking lots and have a couple of possible parking space numbers in mind.
6. Pick up schedule at FHS BEFORE getting in the parking sticker line. Remember, schedule will NOT be released if Parent Vue hasn't been updated.
For more information or assistance, please contact Assistant Principal, Mr. Bradley.
School Supplies List
- At Fenton High School, a planner is provided to each student. With a teacher signature, a planner serves as the hall pass a student needs to carry when traveling to the restroom or to another location within the building.
- Locks are built into the hallway lockers and most locker room lockers, so a lock generally does not need to be purchased. Athletes may choose to "rent" a lock from the Athletic Office.
- While each class/teacher varies, for the 2022-23 school year, a student will be well-prepared if he/she has the school supplies shown on the link.

Annual Notices
Child Find Notice
Child Find is an active process for identifying students suspected of having a disability. The first step requires providing information to the public regarding the availability of special education services.
These notices must be posted annually to ensure all districts continue their efforts to seek out children and students who may need special education and related services.
When a parent, educator, doctor, other individual suspects a child may have a disability, a request for a special education evaluation can be made to the student’s teacher, counselor, administrator or Special Services Office.
Parents can request an initial evaluation of a student suspected of having a disability, and before any formal evaluations take place, the district will provide written notice and, when necessary shall request written consent to evaluate.
The district will provide information about your family rights and procedural safeguards. Upon receipt of signed consent, a district may evaluate the student and determine if there is a need for special education and related services. Child Find evaluations are conducted at no cost to the parents.
Directory Information
In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Fenton Area Public Schools may disclose “Directory Information” from the educational records of a student. Directory information is designated by the district as:
- name of student
- date and place of birth
- grade level
- address (electronic & home)
- field of study
- telephone number (under appropriate circumstances)
- most recent educational agency or institution attended
- participation in officially recognized activities and sports
- weight and height of members of athletic teams
- dates of attendance
- degrees, honors, and awards received
- photographic, film or video images created by the district in conjunction with school-sponsored activities and awards, or in an educational or extracurricular setting taken as part of the school’s newsletter, newspaper, and/or website.
The district may disclose any of the items listed without prior written consent unless the Principal is notified to the contrary in writing by October 1, 2021.
The District Administration Office shall maintain a list of student names wherein disclosure has been refused. These lists shall be reviewed and students must be excluded from directory information disclosures. The district reserves the right to disclose directory information of former students without giving prior public notice.
Personal Curriculum Notice
A school may not issue a diploma to a student unless the student earns credit for all courses in the Michigan Merit Curriculum (MMC).
A school may choose to modify the MMC for a student after developing a personal curriculum based on the student’s individual learning needs.
A personal curriculum may be developed for a student for any of the following reasons:
- To modify the math requirements
- To modify the credit requirements because the student has transferred from out of state or from a non-public school
- A student wishes to go beyond the academic requirements by adding more credits in math, science, English or Languages other than English
- A student with a disability needs to modify the credit requirements based on his/her disability
- To substitute one Career and Technical Education (CTE) credit for one credit of social studies, health and physical education or a visual, performing or applied art
Once the personal curriculum has been developed, it must be approved by the Principal to be implemented. Please contact your child’s counselor for more information.
Pesticide Notice
Pest management techniques emphasize pest exclusion and biological controls. However, as with most pest control programs, pesticides are occasionally applied. You have the right to be informed prior to any application of an insecticide, fungicide, or herbicide made to the school grounds or buildings during the school year.
In certain emergencies, such as an infestation of stinging insects, pesticides may be applied without prior notice to prevent injury to students, but you will be notified following any application.
If you would like prior notification, please contact Mr. Joe Humpert, Operations Department, 3200 Donaldson Drive, Fenton, MI 48430 with the following information:
