Dear Parents,

May the Fourth Be With You! Our staff is so grateful for the incredible thoughtfulness from the PTO, students, and families this week during staff appreciation. The messages, flowers, tasty treats, and meals have made the week special and staff certainly do feel the appreciation and gratitude from all of the positive sentiments. We are lucky to work in such a supportive community.

Multicultural Night: Our students have been participating in fun activities this week to get ready for Multicultural Night. Students have been hearing fun facts and guessing “where I am in the world” after listening to morning announcements, are making flags to celebrate country pride, and created a handprint to showcase their unique personality. I know our PTO parents have been busy preparing and planning for the fun evening. I am excited to see our Rose families on Friday night and look forward to the talent show and showcase of cultures.

• Spring Teacher Tributes Now Available! As summer approaches, please consider sending your child's teacher or favorite staff member off with a Teacher Tribute. Your donation to the Barrington 220 Educational Foundation in your teacher's name allows the Foundation to continue funding grants and resources to students and staff. Each recipient will receive a certificate and you may add a personal message. In addition, they will be recognized on the Foundation's website. The deadline to submit a donation is Wednesday, May 18. • COVID Dashboard: We have 2 positive student COVID cases reported at Rose School this week and 3 students in quarantine. We have 2 positive staff cases to report. If you have additional questions about positive cases and quarantines, you can also check the district COVID Dashboard for up-to-date district COVID information.

• Per new school guidelines, District 220 is now accepting negative home covid test results for certain symptoms. Please review the most up-to-date IDPH guidance here.

• School Lunchroom: We have been closely monitoring our school’s positive COVID cases and the number of positive cases at Rose School has decreased. On Monday, students will no longer sit six feet apart. Students will return to regular cafeteria seating, just as we had before. Homerooms will be assigned tables and sections of the cafeteria. All students will be now seated in the cafeteria since we have plenty of space. We no longer need to use the hallway and alternate spaces for eating options. The lunchroom will continue to be cleaned and sanitized between lunch periods, as we purposefully build in a time lapse at the beginning of the year to ensure ample cleaning time between lunch groups. School announcements will notify the students of the changes and classroom teachers will have conversations with students about the changes. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Student Council is holding a Shelter Drive from May 9th-13th for animals and people. Donations can be brought in to support an animal shelter as well as PADS of Lake County. We are asking students to specifically bring in the following:

PADS (for people) - toothbrushes, toothpaste, new hair brushes, reusable bags, shampoo, bars of soap, disposable medical masks (new in package), diapers (size 3 or higher), large size backpacks

Animal Donations - collars, leashes, toys, treats

Online Registration for the 2022-23 school year is now open! Families planning to attend Barrington 220 Schools in August need to register and update student and family demographic information before May 31st. Students can not be officially registered for the 2022-23 school year until Online Registration is completed.

The link to registration is in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account.

• Once logged in, refer to the left side of the homepage
• Select and click the More option
• Once the list expands, select and click the Online Registration option.

Parents in need of assistance logging into the Parent Portal or completing the online registration should contact the Parent Help Desk during normal business hours for assistance. Call 847-842-3580 or email us at campusportal@barrington220.org.

If your family will not be returning to Dist. 220 next year, please notify the district.

We are excited to announce our STEM Family Event for this year - The Air and Water Show Extravaganza! Families can join us for this outdoor picnic-style event on Saturday, May 14th from 9:00-11:00 am in the fields behind Station Middle School and Arnett Lines Elementary School. Registration is required and is limited to the first 400 students, so please use the link within the flyer below. Please see the flyer for more information:

May 5th: 6:00 pm Parent Orientation for incoming 6th graders at Prairie/Station MS

May 6th: 4:00 pm, Deadline to select 6th grade course selections

May 13th: 6:00-8:00 pm, 5th Gr. Parent/Child Event at The Club at Prairie Stone* (new venue)

May 17th: 7:00 pm, Orchestra Concert at BHS for Prairie-bound 5th graders

May 19th: time tbd, Orchestra Concert at BHS for Station-bound 5th graders

May 23rd: 5th Grade End of Year Party at Main Event

May 25th 11:00 am, 5th Grade Recognition at BHS

May 31st: District 5th Grade Track Meet

August 16-17th: Camp 6th Grade (signup through summer school link)
