It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
It's hard to believe there are just 10 days left before our Winter Break! We've still got lots of wonderful activities to celebrate the season. Below are some highlights you won't want to miss!
Thursday 12/12 - Johnny's Spirit Night (5-8PM):
Thank you, Dyer Families, for supporting Dyer Spirit Night at Johnny's Pizza before Thanksgiving break! It was well-attended and the restaurant was full! Yea! Due to such a good turnout, there were some delays and we are sorry about that. We will communicate that to them. If you were a family that decided not to wait, we hope you'll consider supporting us this month at Johnny's on Dec 12. Don't forget that you can call ahead and order for dine-in or carry-out, just remember to say it's for Dyer. Thank you and Happy Holidays from the Dyer PTO!
Friday 12/13 - PAWS Party:
We are so excited to celebrate our students' awesome behavior on Friday, 12/13 during recess! Parents are invited to join us and help with the parties, you can sign up via this SignUpGenius.
Wednesday 12/18 - Bruster's Blue Ice Day:
As a special treat, Bruster's will be selling their famous blue pop ice during lunch. Cost is $2 and a portion of the proceeds goes to our school.
Friday 12/20 - Winter Parties:
10:00 - 10:45 - 4th & 5th
12:00-12:45 - K & 3
1:15 - 2:00 - 1st & 2nd
Parents, please watch for an email from your teacher and/or Room Parent with details on how your child's class will be celebrating and how you can help! You are welcome to join the fun but please remember:
- Park in the side lot on the day of the event (front lot reserved for Room Parents)
- Due to limited space, siblings may not attend class parties
- Last check out is at 2:15. You can check your child out in the classroom but if there are siblings that need to be checked out, please be sure to do so prior to 2:15.
Last but not least, we are looking forward to counting down those last 5 days before Winter Break (12/16-12/20)! In addition to daily PAWS prize raffles for students and teachers, we are adding in just a little more fun and excitement by dressing up together each day.
Countdown to Winter Break!
Oh, how those 5 days seem to last forever!
Let's make them fun by dressing up together!
Students and staff can all take part,
Each ensemble will be like a work of art!
On Monday we'll be so full of cheer,
Let's dress in the theme of Santa's reindeer!
When Tuesday arrives, no one can be sick,
We'd hate to miss dressing up like St. Nick!
Wednesday will be a "Workshop Scene",
Dress like an elf or wear red, white & green!
Thursday, we'll need a boost in morale,
Everyone dress like their favorite snow pal!
On Friday we'll all be filled with glee!
How will we dress? It's a mystery!
Crazy socks, elf shoes or straight out of bed,
Anything to make us not lose our heads!
PAWS Party December 13th!
In addition to the December PAWS party, students will also have an opportunity to use their PAWS points to enter into prize raffles! Our specials teachers did an amazing job putting together 6 themed baskets! We can't wait to see who the winners will be...drawings will be held during the week of 12/16-12/20!
Afternoon Alternate Transportation Notification
We know many of you need to change your child's afternoon transportation method from time to time. In order to make those communications easier for parents, and our Transportation Coordinator, Mrs. Carroll, we have created an Afternoon Alternate Transportation Form for you to use. Simply print out the form (link below), fill it in and send it to school in your child's backpack. Of course, a regular hand written note is still acceptable but this form will guide you in making sure all of the pertinent information is communicated.

Also just a few reminders about transportation changes:
- For your child's safety, any change in his/her regular method of transportation must be communicated in writing by 12:30PM of that day. (No faxes, texts or emails are permitted for security reasons except in the case of emergency as deemed appropriate by an administrator.)
- Notes are valid for a maximum of 10 consecutive school days.
- Bus passes are issued for emergencies only.
