2. William Penn envisioned Pennsylvania to be a diverse settlement that revolves around religious tolerance and cooperation.
3. New York was known as the New Netherlands before english control. New Netherlands was primarily supposed to be inhabited by the dutch, but instead attracted many other cultures, which is why it was easier for them to give the control to the English because a majority of the population disliked the government already in place.
4. It was divided into New York and New Jersey. New York was kept by James, and New Jersey was given to James' two friends.
5. They focused mostly on North and South Carolina because they were given a charter for the area between Virginia and Florida. They also had easy access to the sea which made trade easier and so the people living in the North and South Carolina region thrived.
