New community playground opens at Chatham Elementary School

After years of hard work by scores of individuals and organizations, a new, accessible community playground has opened at Chatham Elementary School. Learn more about the project here.

A Tale of Two Harwiches

This year marks the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower’s arrival in Massachusetts -- and there is a special local connection for students at Harwich Elementary School. The Mayflower was believed to have been built in Harwich, England, and HES students have been writing letters to students in Harwich, England. Read about the connection here.

Mock Trial making its mark at MRMS and MRHS

Mock Trial is proving popular - and successful! - at both MRMS and MRHS. At the middle school, students recently completed another session of the Mock Trial seminar, led by Sgt. Bill Massey and supported by Atty. Matthew Bober, where they learn about the law and procedure, and participate in a trial at the courthouse with their classmates.

At the high school level, the MRHS Mock Trial team started its competition season with a win against Nauset! The team, led by teacher Kevin Bates and Atty. Mark Russell, will continue competing over the next few months.

MRHS internship program draws record number of students

Nearly half of the senior class at Monomoy Regional High School will get real-world work experience through their participation in the school’s internship program. Now in its fifth year, this year’s cohort of 56 students is the biggest yet. Learn more about the program here.

Monomoy welcomes Michael MacMillan as Business Manager

As its meeting on January 23, 2020, the Monomoy Regional School Committee voted unanimously to appoint Michael MacMillan as the new Business Manager for MRSD. Current Business Manager Kathleen Isernio will be retiring as of June 30, 2020, after many years of service to the district. Read more about the transition here.

MRSD Budget Information

Budget season is underway, with Superintendent Dr. Scott Carpenter presenting the draft FY21 MRSD Budget to the Chatham Board of Selectmen and Harwich Board of Selectmen on Jan. 27, 2020. The draft FY21 Budget is a level service budget with a 2.64% increase, and it maintains all current programs and services.
