Reminders and Updates from Holy Trinity Montessori

It's almost time...

We can't believe that summer is almost over, but we are looking forward to a wonderful year with your children at Holy Trinity Montessori! As we prepare our learning environments, we want to help you prepare for the new year as well. Whether you're a returning family or this is your first year, there are some big changes ahead! We are excited about taking this journey with you and are looking forward to all that is coming in 2014-2015!

Parent Orientation Meeting

Mark your calendar to join us for this very important evening with Kate and our staff! This meeting is mandatory for all returning and new parents, and we encourage you to bring along any caregivers who will be participating in your child's school journey. We will gather on Tuesday, August 12 at 6pm in the Multi-Purpose Room, which is located at the top of the hill (park anywhere and walk up the circle drive).

Here is what you can expect at this meeting:
  • Meet our staff and key parent volunteers
  • Hear our Parent Expectations for 2014-2015
  • Find out about our Discovery Days and Discovery Nights
  • Learn about our expansion plans and our Capital Campaign
  • Sign up for Parent-Teacher Conferences, Field Trips, Event Support, and more
  • Purchase HTM Merchandise
  • Connect with other HTM parents and build community

Your children are (obviously!) important to us, but due to the nature of this meeting, this event is for grown-ups only (nursing babies welcomed). We look forward to seeing all of you on the 12th!

SAVE THE DATE: Discovery Day - The Silent Journey

Please join us on Saturday, September 6, from 9am until 12pm for a special event on our school grounds called "Discover Day - The Silent Journey." This very important day is designed to show parents, grandparents, and caregivers a special look at the Montessori method and how it applies to your child at every stage of development and learning. While attendance is not mandatory, it is strongly encouraged for all HTM families, whether new or returning.

Walk through our learning environments and get hands-on experience with our materials, through the eyes of a child! Then join in on discussions, ask questions and offer feedback, and more. Learn how the holistic approach of the Montessori method truly nurtures your child and encourages a love for learning, personal independence, and a respect for the people and world around us.

Due to the grown-up nature of this event, please make arrangements for your children (nursing babies are welcome).

What to Bring to School

Whether you're joining us for the first time, your child is moving to a new classroom, or your child is returning to the same classroom community as last year, it's helpful to have some reminders about what to bring (and what not to bring!) to school!

PLEASE SEND:
  • Raincoat and rain boots, labeled (these will stay at school)
  • Full change of clothing (seasonally appropriate, with all items labeled), including underwear and socks
  • Indoor shoes to leave at school (you can find them at montessorimovers.com as well as other online retailers; many stores will carry slippers that are appropriate as well)
  • Simple, framed 4x6 picture of your family (no large or elaborate frames please!)
  • Lunch tote (remember: we do not have the capacity to store lunches in the refrigerator, so please send ice packs in your child's lunch bag) **See note below about our Lunch Tote Fundraiser!
  • Healthy lunches (no microwave accessibility in Toddler and Primary classrooms)
  • For children who nap, please send a nap sheet (a crib sheet is the perfect size) and a nap blanket in a small tote or bag
  • Lower Elementary students will need to wear dress-code-appropriate attire (please refer to handbook for details)


PLEASE DO NOT SEND:

  • Any items with licensed characters. Examples of licensed characters: Dora the Explorer, Buzz Lightyear, Star Wars, Sesame Street, sports teams, entertainers, etc.
  • Back packs or other bags
  • Sweets, cookies, candy, sodas, etc.


We hope these tips help you as you're preparing for school. If you have any questions, feel free to ask your child's teacher at our Parent Orientation Meeting!
