Awards ~ PTA and Appreciation
Thursday, June 4th is a very special day here at Central. Students, grades first through fifth will receive awards for participation and performance in music, art and physical education. Also, awards for academics, attendance and school service will be given. Mrs. Estridge, Miss Erler and the fifth grade students have prepared a wonderful presentation as a farewell to Central School.
PTA members and parent volunteers will be recognized! We will have a special refreshment area set up beginning at 8:30 a.m., to show our appreciation for those who have helped out in any way this year. We are proud to honor all the hard work you put in throughout the year!
The program starts at 9:00 a.m. Parents are welcome to attend! We look forward to an exciting ceremony! Hope to see you there!
Fifth Grade Farewell
Before we know it, we’ll be saying farewell and best wishes to another group of 5th graders who will be moving on to middle school in the fall. The farewell celebration is on Tuesday, May 26th from 3:15 to 4:30. The fifth graders will stay after school that day and their parents will be invited to join the celebration from 4-4:30. Parents will enjoy a slide show of highlights of the year. Be sure to mark your calendars, you don’t want to miss this!
Adopt A Pilot
You always know when he arrives. A roar of cheers and applause can be heard throughout the entire building. He's our amazing Southwest Airlines Adopt-A-Pilot, Mr. Howie Landry, who certainly has celebrity status at Central! Mr. Landry has been wowing our fifth graders with aviation themed activities for several years. Our students receive post cards from the various destinations Mr. Landry visits. Once he arrived with a leaf blower for one of his activities to help the students better understand how wind affects an airplane. After that activity the chatter in the hallway was, 'wow, that was awesome!'. Ironic because awesome is the way we would describe our Adopt A Pilot! Mr. Landry, with his likable personality, has truly affected the lives of several students through the program. We are grateful for his dedication to our school and students. Thank you Mr. Landry!
Below is a link for an article from the Times newspaper when the student learned how to make paper airplanes.:

Important Library Information

The End
This is the last Chatter for this school year. This school year went by faster than the last one! This is a great school with wonderful, caring families! Good luck to all the fifth graders going to B.F. and T.J. Middle Schools next year! We will miss you! We look forward to seeing everyone else next year!
We will still update facebook and twitter with important information over the summer so stay connected! Have a safe summer!
