SPRING BREAK NO LESSONS MARCH 6-19

ENSEMBLE WEEK APRIL 24-30
MUSIC: We will have music available where kids are divided into smaller groups and learn to play a song with each other. This class is ALWAYS a favorite in our summer session.
SIGN UP: Sign up for a class with your friends if you can! Sign-up is available on the CMM calendar Once signed up, PLEASE do not change your day/time, as we plan the classes specifically for who is present.
Music Achievement Exams - APRIL 30
This activity is ideal for families who are achievement-based and like a graded approach to music learning.
This is NOT a requirement.

SUMMER LESSONS and CLASSES will be available for SIGN UP APRIL 1
SUMMER SESSION IS MAY 15-AUGUST 12
Our spring semester ends the week before school gets out so that you can plan around various end-of-year activities. Some teachers will be offering private lessons, but we have found there to be a high cancellation rate the last week of school, so if you want to take that week off, we support you!
For summer, students will sign up for:
- Four 45-min private lessons with FLEXIBLE scheduling! (All lessons in summer are 45 min)
- 2-3 Enrichment Classes; Master Classes, Theory and Music History, Jam Session, African Drumming, Music and Movement, among others that will be offered. Please do NOT wait to sign up when the schedule comes out as spots fill up quickly.
- 90-minute "camp" options will be available the week of May 22. Sessions will be divided by age. The end of May/top of June is a great time to take advantage of some enrichment classes! Spacing out private lessons in June and July is also our suggestion, to give kids some down time, but not too much where they forget.
Part of the "musical mind" is the understanding that music is not just a school-year activity. We are designing a playground of musical experiences for all, to take place over the summer months. And, with a break longer than 6-8 weeks, retention drops significantly. We've all worked really hard this past school year! At CMM, our summer goal is to maintain skills, keep a "repertoire list" of new, review and relearn pieces together (10 songs/pieces!) and grow our experience base. At CMM, we have found our students who participate in summer are significantly more inclined to stay involved in music throughout high school and beyond.
IMPORTANT: All students who opt out of summer will lose their day/time with their teacher for the fall schedule. You can simply re-enroll in July to see which teachers have availability. If you do NOT want to participate in summer, please let us know by email no later than April 15th.
