Message from the Principal
Greetings Standing Bear Families,
These Standing Bear Cubs sure left me "Hanging Around!" I spent time hanging out during the lunch block. Every students was able to add a piece of tape to me as a reward for meeting/exceeding our goal. See a video below highlighting our Boosterthon Fun Run!
Report Cards: We have them completed, but will hold them until Parent/Teacher Conference.
Have a great weekend!
Stay positive, patient and flexible!
Sincerely,
Bridget O'Melia

Halloween/Fall Parade & Party Information
We are super excited that we will be able to have our fall festivities this year. We will still have some restrictions in order to keep our students and staff safe. We appreciate your understanding.
We will have the costume parade as normal. We will have the following adjustment to the parade route. We will come out the north doors on the blacktop (this will allow for more room for parents to spread out) we will then continue to walk down the main front drive and enter back into the building by the kindergarten south doors. Classes will come out in grade specific order, starting with early childhood, kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade and 4th grade. The parade will begin at 2:30pm. We will take extra time with the parade to ensure parents have the opportunity to see your student(s) and take pictures.
Classroom parties will follow the parade. We will NOT be able to allow families in for the classroom portion of the celebration. Dismissal will run as normal following the parties at 4:05pm
Treats- the PTO will provide all treats for the party. We do not want students to bring in outside treats.
There will be no school for students on November 1st.

Notes from the School Nurse
This is the time of year when the health office begins annual health screenings on all students. This will include height, weight, vision, hearing and dental with the assistance of UNMC nursing students. Parents will be notified in writing if further evaluation is indicated upon completion of screenings.
Healthy eyes, ears and teeth are an important part of the academic success of our Standing Bear students

Important Information from Standing Bear
Building Security
For the safety and security of our students and this building, we are asking that any parent visitor make an appointment prior to entering the building. We will continue to limit outside visitors due to Health & Safety Protocols.
Drop Off Zone
We ask that you please continue to pull all the way down to the second crosswalk if possible (by main front doors). We can then unload around 10 vehicles rather than 5.
We currently have a school staff member assisting your child to breakfast or the classroom at the main doorway for all student’s morning arrival. REMINDER: School doors don’t open until 8:35 AM for classroom entrance and breakfast opening hours.
We ask again not arrive for end of school day pick-up until 3:55pm due to traffic flow congestion issues we’re currently experiencing due to early arrivals.
Please be attentive and cognizant of all school crossing guard officials and adhere to their requests during student morning drop-off and pick-up times. Our goal is to ensure your child’s overall safety.
School Messenger
We will be using the School Messenger (Robo call or email) to communicate this year. Please make sure to contact the office if you need to update your contact information.
Birthday Celebrations
We ask that only non-food items be brought for birthday celebrations.
