Date:
June 10th or June 11th
Time of Demo:
12:30 pm
Description of Activity:
Demonstration of how to prepare and pack a veterinary spay surgical pack step by step.
Rationale:
I have chosen this specific task to demonstrate as it is an important procedure that must be carried out at Animal Hospitals. Sterile surgical packs are essential for surgery in order to prevent bacteria and infections from taking place. It is necessary to ensure instruments and tools are correctly sterilized and ready for surgery by following specific steps.
Details of the Activity:
Step 1:
Place used instruments in sink and fill sink with warm water and soap and let soak for a few minutes.
Step 2:
Scrub off any excess blood or debris on the instruments.
Step 3:
Prepare half a cup of surgical milk with two and a half cups of water in a container and place all instruments in the container and let soak for one minute.
Step 4:
Take out instruments and place on a towel to let them air dry.
Step 5:
Get two drapes and lay out on table and begin placing instruments in order along with gauze on the drape.

Begin folding the drape over the instruments and take the second drape and fold over once again then stick sterilization tape over it labelled with date, type, and initials and finally place in autoclave.
