A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal

Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,

We are wrapping up March and quickly heading into April, which means now more than ever you must be giving your best effort in and out of the classroom. These last two months are going to FLY by and summer will be here before you know it, and we want you to enjoy a break and not have to be in summer school! :)

ATTENTION LATE ARRIVAL AND EARLY OFF SENIORS

Seniors, if you have either of these, you must be OFF campus during these periods. This means you actually leave the building right after your last class and return after school if you need to attend tutorials or practice. You should not be walking around the building during these off periods, as instruction is still happening for the majority of this campus, and it has become disruptive to the learning environment. Please keep in mind that these "OFF" periods were originally put in place for students that were working, therefore moving forward, if you do not leave the building we will be adding a class to your schedule or you can leave, like you originally requested. *This is a privilege, not a right for JUST being a senior. Please make sure you have a plan (and ride) to get home starting tomorrow, so we do not have to make a schedule change.

*Juniors, if you requested off periods for the 22-23 school year you will have to meet a few academic/behavior/ transportation qualifications before I will grant these requests. I will be sharing these with you in the next few weeks.

This weekend was full of Longhorn GR-eatness! Sash Day for our 22-23 Cheerleaders, Longhorn Dance ROCKED Nationals, Girls Soccer left it all on the field in their playoff game, and we have not one...but FOUR MATHCON Finalists!

As the weather begins to warm back up this month, please make sure you are WELL within dress code. That means your shorts are LONG enough, shorts can be SEEN WELL BELOW those oversized t-shirts, no mid drift showing (which means the length of your shirt matters too), and no hoodies UP inside the building. Also, you should NOT be carrying a blanket around, if you feel the building is cold, bring a jacket or sweatshirt.

LESS THAN 75 Yearbooks Left! Better Hurry!

ID's are mandatory!

If you do not have an ID at this point, you will need to purchase a new one for $5 in the library from 8:00-8:15am. If you choose not to, there will be a HOLD placed on your account for the end of year. (exemptions/graduation/final grades, etc) Remember No ID = No Tech visible! Please make sure you are following this rule as well as being in dress code and to ensure that you are not written up for non compliance.

The front office is open daily Monday- Friday 8:00-4:00pm to assist you. You can also directly email us or call 832-223-4200 during the same hours. We are happy to help!

The girls soccer team played in the Bi-District round of the State Playoffs Friday night against Katy Tompkins The girls went down 1-0 with about 7 minutes left in the game and battled back tie the game with 3 minutes left, when Brynn Johnson puts up a high ball that Annie Schoditch made sure went in the back of the net. This took the game to 2-10 minute overtimes. After playing 100 minutes of play in a 1-1 game to take Tompkins to the game to penalty kicks the girls lost at the line. Their effort and heart was left out on the field and noticed by all in attendance. Thank you senior class of '22 for showing the pride of Longhorn Soccer each and every day over the past few years!
