Ms. Wold's World News
News and Updates From Room 2
What We Learned This Week
Writing - We learned that writer's go through a process when they write and brainstormed ideas for our class story. We then worked on our rough draft. Ask your kiddos about Peanut Butter and Pickles, the ghosts from our story.
Math - We continued to work on place value and numbers within 100. We did our first big lesson on problem solving. We learned about underlining the question and circling important information to help us focus on what we are trying to do. We will be reviewing on Tuesday and taking our first test on Wednesday.
Science - This week we completed our first Learning Experience of our new Science Curriculum. We read the book Earth: Our Planet in Space by Seymor Simon and learned about how the Earth orbits the Sun and rotates to create day and night. We also learned about how the Moon orbits the earth. We then created models of the Sun, Earth and Moon that show the orbit and rotation.
A Note From Ms. Wold
I have been super impressed with how well your kiddos have settled into school! We have finished up our beginning of the year assessments; I was pleased with how well they did. I will be sharing the results with you at conferences in October, but if you would like to know how they did before then, just shoot me an email and I’ll let you know. Walk to Learn started this last week (ask your kiddo who their teacher is) and we are getting into a learning groove.
If you haven't had a chance to, please consider joining the Bayshore PTA. The PTA provides so much for our school (extra materials for our classrooms, family events, busses for field trips etc. . ). There is a bright green form in your kiddo's Friday Folder, or you can click the link at the end of this newsletter.
Thank you for sharing your kiddos with me!
