September 4, 2020
Greetings Sunny Heights Families,
September is here and we have officially been back to school a full month! It has been amazing to see how our students, staff, and families have adapted to the "new normal" and are beginning to thrive rather than simply survive the start of the school year. I am so very proud of the work our students and staff are doing both in-person and virtually. I have seen a great deal of effort, pride in work, and commitment to safety from all!
Please enjoy the three day weekend as we will return on Tuesday to begin the second half of the 1st grading period.
Thank you for all that you do!
Your proud principal,
STUDENT PICTURE DAY IS COMING UP!!
ALL STUDENTS - ATTENDANCE
For the 2020-2021 school year, Warren Township has transitioned to a new student information system called Synergy allowing our parents and caregivers to have improved access to school information through the parent portal called ParentVUE. We are aware that at this time some students’ attendance records are reflecting students are absent, when in fact they were present. This is mostly the case for our students who are attending school VIRTUALLY on application days or in the VIRTUAL opinion full-time. We want to assure you that teachers are keeping accurate attendance records and that we are working to correct attendance records for all our students.
Virtual Instructional Guide and Weeks At-A-Glance
In an effort to support families and teachers, families need only contact their virtual teacher and their home school for support. If in doubt, contact your teacher and they will support your needs.
For the week of Labor Day, the teacher will send you the alternate schedule.
Please ensure your family can log into Canvas. Canvas is the only way that building administrators can inform families when the teacher is out.Students can log into Canvas using their google email and password. If you don’t have it, please ask your teacher today.

Students will participate in Academic Enrichment Day each Friday.
The week of Labor Day is not a typical week.
Please be on-time for each meeting and log-in with your first and last name. Also, please follow the teacher’s expectations for camera-use.
Please read your virtual emails as the teacher will keep you informed of the schedule and important details.
Please attend all Zoom meetings throughout the day.
Our breakfast and lunch distribution for all VIRTUAL students will continue to be Tuesday and Friday mornings from 8:00 - 9:30 at Moorhead Community Resource Center. Also, we have added Tuesday evenings from 4:30-6:00 as an additional distribution time. I would also like to remind our 6-12 students that we are offering a take home meal for your VIRTUAL Application Day.
Immunization Reminder - Clinic News
In order for our schools to be in compliance with the state laws regarding immunizations, please make sure that your student(s) have their updated information on file with your school's nursing staff. All student vaccines must be on file and up to date by September 21, 2020 to avoid exclusion. Please make your school's nursing staff aware of any upcoming appointments for vaccines, or if there are any medical or religious objections to your student receiving his or her vaccines.
We would like to welcome our new school nurse, Amber Eyerman to Sunny Heights Elementary. We are very excited to have her join our Sunny Heights and Warren Team!
PLEASE inform your school's nurse of any chronic health conditions that the school should be made aware of, and that your student's medical emergency information is up to date.
