The Mullis Crew News
Monday, August 29th-Friday, September 2nd
Please see the following information from Nurse Bosdell:
We wanted to reach out to you to let you know that like most schools in the United States, we have a number of students in our school that have potentially life threatening food allergies. Children with food allergies can have life-threatening reactions with exposure to even tiny amounts of allergen. There are certain guidelines that need to be followed to keep these students safe and ready to learn. We are asking for your help to provide the student with a safe school environment.
1. -There will be special days and occasions that students may want to bring a snack to share. Please call the teacher for “allergy safe” suggestions. All food products must be store bought with an appropriate food ingredient label. You must notify the classroom teacher 48 hours in advance if you plan to bring a snack in to the classroom. This will give the food-allergic child’s family an opportunity to provide their own safe snack. You may also consider sending/donating a book or game to the class in your child’s name or sending a non-food treat.
We look forward to working together with you to have a wonderful year. This is a learning process for all of us, but we trust that you understand how deeply important it is to respect and adhere to these guidelines. If throughout the course of the year you have any questions or concerns about food-allergy-related issues, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
