Long Jump Through the Years....

What is Long Jump?

Well long jump is a track and field event in which athletes use speed, jumping and distance in an attempt to leap as far as possible from a marked leaping point. This event has a history in the Ancient Olympic Games and has been a Olympics event for guys since the first Olympics in 1896 and for women since 1948.

The Goal of the Study

The point of this research is to see how men and women are declining or inclining in their skill level per year and when they will have the same skill level.

The Scatter Plot

This photo shows the data through graph of the men and women jumpers. The dark blue squares represent male jumpers through the years, and the green X's represent the female jumpers through the years.

The Linear Regression (Line of Best Fit)

The 2 lines resemble the line of best fit for both women and men. These lines represent the change based in past trends. These lines will eventually meet showing where one sex will surpass the other


The 2 lines show when women and men will be at the same skill level and what year which is 2187. Based on this information we can tell where these lines will intersect.
