Amendment 17
Popular Election for Senators
Background
This amendment was ratified in 1788, and it allows the public to elect governors for President, instead of the government doing it for them.
Importance
Without this amendment's creation, the public would never have any say on who our President is, and this restricts the government from having too much power.
( Trump over to right was never a senator, which makes you wonder... )
