Depth and Complexity Framework
The Overview - a self-paced Gifted HQPD course
Depth & Complexity framework builds rigorous lesson activities
Explore the invaluable framework developed originally for gifted educators as a tool to increase academic rigor and engage students in higher-order thinking routines. Sandra Kaplan and Bette Gould investigated the kinds of thinking done by experts in their fields. The result evolved into 11 prompts represented by visual cues to encourage students toward deep connections and explorations. Used in conjunction with Bloom's Taxonomy of higher order thinking skills and Webb's Depth of Knowledge assessment tasks, teachers in any grade level or subject can apply this tool to raise the bar for their gifted and general education students alike.
