Digital Learning Day: Wednesday, October 20, 2021

October 20 is a scheduled Digital Learning Day for all students. It will be an asynchronous learning day with ALL students learning from home. Students will log into eCLASS to work independently on assignments.

Early Release Day/Parent-Teacher Conferences: Thursday, October 21, 2021

October 21 is an early release day for students in grades K-8. Information regarding signing up for a conference was sent by teachers. If you did not receive a request, and you would like to schedule a conference, please email your scholar's teacher. Remember, if you are not on the Parent Portal, please be sure to request an account. This is a great tool for parents and teachers to communicate, and for you to stay well-informed regarding your scholar's academic, behavior, and course performances.

The ParentPortal provides you with access to all of your students in GCPS. Through the portal you can view a student’s schedule, course grades, bus information, update parent and emergency contact information, and more.

Thank You For A Wonderful Latin Explosion Experience!

Thank you to the scholars, parents, teachers, and staff who made the Latin Explosion a huge success! It was an enriching and engaging experience. The displays, performances, projects and food were superb! If you missed grabbing a meal at the food truck, you missed a treat. Wrapped Wright was D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!

Good evening Generals:


As we wind up Hispanic Heritage Month, let us reflect on the contributions of people of color and what they have given to this great nation. We are thankful for their perseverance and tenacity.


Shiloh Middle School is committed to creating a safe environment that is conducive to learning. We have trusted adults in the building that your scholar can depend on at any given time throughout the day. As a friendly reminder, please have an open conversation with your child about the TikTok Challenges. We are asking for your support with cell phones. Remind your child that cell phones should be always stored in bookbags. It is never appropriate to record or photograph others. A consequence will be received for not following school rules. We are going to combat all negativity by doing a campaign of “Random Acts of Kindness by Paying it Forward”. Ask your child what he/she/they would like to do as a random act of kindness or something to pay it forward. Please share your child’s random act of kindness with his/her/their teacher to have a chance at receiving PBIS points.


As we embark on Red Ribbon Week (10/23-10/31), let us inspire our kids to be healthy, happy, and drug free. This year’s theme is “Drug Free Looks Like Me,” which is a reminder that “everyday Americans across the country make significant daily contributions to their communities by being the best they can be because they live Drug-Free!” (www.redribbon.org)


I hope you enjoyed our Latin Explosion. Please be on the lookout for our next phenomenal Shiloh Generals’ event.


Due to the health and safety of all students and staff, please be sure to let your child’s teacher know if your child is either a positive case or a close contact for COVID-19.

How to submit your poster:

Please complete the Artwork Submission Form and attach it to your poster and bring it to the Parent Center (1.222), which is located in the Media Center on or before November 1 (In-Person submission). If you plan to email your poster, you should include the submission form along with your completed poster and email on or before November 5, 2021. You may also get a copy of the submission form from the Parent Center, or you may use the link below to go directly to the UGA Extension website to print a copy.

GCPS 2021-2022 School Year Calendar -English

As we plan for a successful 2021-2022 school year, it is important to ensure that your student is present each day.

Please also note the "Digital Learning Days (DLDs)" that are added to this year's calendar. There are five remaining dates. They are highlighted in Pink for the months of October, November, January, and two in March. These are teacher planning/staff development days. All GCPS students will learn from home on these days, completing assignments at their own pace.

While meals are provided at no charge for all students this school year, it still pays to complete the Free and Reduced-price Meal Application. Families whose students would be eligible for meal support in a typical year should complete the application by October 21, 2021. GCPS offers an online application and a printed application (available at schools). A new application must be completed each year. Due to the number of applications received, families can expect a faster turnaround time for the online application, which is available in English and Spanish.


Completing this form is linked to additional benefits for students. Some benefits include additional funds provided to local schools to offset the cost for technology, supplies and programs; fee waivers for afterschool programs; discounts for families on utilities and internet service; reduced fees for SAT & ACT tests and college applications.

Device Returns: 2020 - 2021 Virtual Learning Option and Technology Support for Digital Learning Days


Please note that all devices that were checked out to students for the 2020-2021 Virtual Learning option and for students in grades 7th and 8th for the 2021-2022 Staggered Start Digital Learning Days, should have been returned. If your student has not returned their device, please ensure that it is returned on Monday to their teacher, or it can be dropped off and given to the clerk at the desk located at the front entrance of the school.
