Picture Day and Time Trials
Wow, this season is gearing up fast! We are already preparing for Picture Day and Time Trials! Our first meet is less than 2 weeks away!
Team shirts will be in tomorrow, Monday, May 2nd. We will pass them out before pictures.
DON'T FORGET! There is practice AFTER pictures! See the schedule in the Picture Day section below.
Time Trials are the 5th and 6th! An email was sent out Sunday around 3pm with details about Time Trials. The same information is included here.
We are excited for our season to get started and kids to begin competing.
Go Cudas!
Team Pictures, May 2nd!
Our practice schedule will be different than normal due to the pictures.
Don't forget to get your order form ready before picture day. You will need to print it (located on Home page under "Links", also sent in an email), fill it out and have your money ready when you arrive.
Attire for pictures:
Girls-wear your Team suit (please, no large hair bows)
Boys-wear your Team jammers/brief and your team shirt (shirts will be delivered on May 2nd)
Schedule for Monday, May 2nd:

Individual Pictures 5:00-5:30 P.M.
Start lining up swimmers in height order for team picture 5:20 P.M.

Parents: Please help us out by supervising your children at all times. It is especially important for picture day that we do not have children running around in the pool area. If your child needs to run around while waiting on their turn for pictures, feel free to allow them to visit the park just outside the pool gates.
Practice, 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M.
6 & under plus new 7 year olds 6:00-6:30 P.M.
7 to 10 year olds 6:30-7:15 P.M.
11 & up (NO DRY LAND) 7:15-8:00 P.M.
While it is not required to purchase a photo, whether individual or team, we encourage all of our Cudas to be present for the team picture.
REGISTRATION FEES & VOLUNTEER DEPOSITS DUE NOW
These were due last Friday, April 29th. Without fees and/or volunteer deposit, your registration is INCOMPLETE and your swimmer(s) will be dropped from the team.
Please bring payment to Pictures tomorrow! Thanks!
How many Volunteer Credits do we need this year?
For more information on Volunteer Credits, contact Liz at volunteers@swimcuda.com
Do you wanna be a DJ?
All of the equipment is provided (speakers, cords, mixer, amp, mics, etc). We even have an iTouch loaded up with awesome music to choose from! You can add your own music to the mix if you want. No need to talk on the microphone if you don't want to, we already have a DJ announcer, "Susie Q" Coe!
If you love music and would like the chance to spin some tunes, contact Brent McKay, president@swimcuda.com or Liz Gilbert, volunteers@swimcuda.com.
Time Trials!
Time Trials are this Thursday, May 5th and Friday, May 6th!
Time Trials are an event that takes place before the first swim meet. This is when each swimmer swims each stroke they hope to participate in during an upcoming meet. In order to be included in a meet, swimmers must have a Time Trials time, otherwise, we are not capable of including them on the roster for that meet.
Don't forget to RSVP by Tuesday, May 3rd! Everyone will be automatically entered in Time Trials, but this is a good time to practice the RSVP you will have to do before each meet.
Dates:
11 & up swimmers- May 5th
10 & under swimmers-May 6th
Please note: There will not be practice on May 5th or 6th due to Time Trials.
Place: Bridgeland Pool
What time: Warm-ups will start at 4:30 P.M. and time trials will begin at 5:15 P.M.
Who: All swimmers must get a time for each event they want to participate in for any meet. Without a trial time in that event, they are not allowed to participate in it at a meet.
Time Trials will be run like a mock meet this year. The biggest differences from Time Trials and a dual meet is that we will be the only team swimming, there will be no relays and no DQ's (disqualifications).
Volunteer credits will be offered during time trials! The volunteer position sign-ups will open at 9:00 P.M. TONIGHT (Sunday, May 1) on BridgelandBarracudas.com. Spots are limited, so make a decision quickly. Please be respectful when choosing a volunteer spot. Do not take the maximum per family right away as it will mean others cannot sign up.
These are the events each swimmer will be swimming (unless they never plan on doing that stroke at a meet).
6 & Under-25 Free, 25 Back
7/8-25 Free, 25 Back, 25 Breast, 25 Fly
9/10-25 Free, 25 Back, 25 Breast, 25 Fly, 100 IM, 50 Free
11 & Up-100 Free, 50 Free, 50 Breast, 50 Fly, 50 Back, 100 IM,
Although we will have officials on deck watching, swimmers cannot be DQ'd (disqualified) during Time Trials.
If you are unable to make it to Time Trials as scheduled, you must get times on your own in a 25 yard pool. The new lap pool is 25 yards, so if you have signed your waiver, you could use that pool to get times.
Please submit times in a mm:ss.ss format (example 1:25.46).
All times MUST be submitted to Technology@swimcuda.com no later than 5P.M. on Tuesday, May 10th. If times are not submitted by that deadline, your swimmer may not swim in the first meet.
We are looking forward to some awesome times at Time Trials!
Go Cudas!

Please Watch Your Cudas!
Although most of the kids playing around the pool are on the swim team and reasonably good swimmers, we request parents watch their kids. Even the best swimmer can struggle if they accidentally fall into the water.
Kids should only be playing in the grassy area to the side of the large blue awnings. Nobody is allowed to go to the back pool area (slides, splash pad and smaller pool). This is an insurance issue and part of the rules set forth by the Bridgeland Board of Directors, not the Barracudas.
We have seen several kids running around the hill near the splash pad area. This area is off-limits for playing per the HOA. The deck around the back pool is also off-limits. Nobody should be going back there for any reason.
We really want to keep practices open, meaning non-swimmers can be inside the gates during practice. However, if we have people that are not following the rules, we will have to do a closed practice. This means the only people allowed inside the pool gates during practice will be the coaches and swimmers in the current practice. All others would have to sit outside the gates.
If your child would like to run around, we suggest using the grassy area between the pool and the playground equipment. Not only is it a larger area, but it is safer as well. We want all of our Cudas to stay safe!
If you have any questions regarding this request, please feel free to contact the Board of Directors at board@swimcuda.com
Thanks for your help with this!
Swim Buddies needed for 6 & under practices!
We are looking for older swimmers (preferably 13 & up or strong 11/12 swimmers) to help with our 6 & under swimmers at their practice!
Swim Buddies stay in the pool with these swimmers during their practice. The goal is to have the Swim buddies help the coaches by assisting swimmers to correct their stroke and for safety reasons.
If your swimmer is interested in becoming a Swim Buddy, please contact Coach Jennie for more information.
For students seeking community service hours, the coaches will sign-off on them if you consistently help as a Swim Buddy!
Wednesdays are "Fins"days!
Make sure your 11 & Up swimmer remembers their fins on Wednesday each week as this is when the coaches will be using them.
Remember, you can get these at any sporting goods store, but at A-Gleam, they have a special for our team for just $23!
